Suspended four years by AFLD like his partner Clémence Calvin, Samir Dahmani reacted to the decision of the Council of State to reject their appeal.
"What are your feelings following the announcement of the confirmation of your suspension and that of your partner Clémence Calvin?"
It only half surprises us. There was always hope because we took all possible remedies. I was really waiting for this decision from the Council of State. There is always this feeling of injustice, that's why I always find it hard to believe it. The charges are not doping charges, positive tests, I am accused of having pushed an agent (during a doping control in Marrakech on March 27, 2019) and it is word against word. And other than swearing you're innocent, there's nothing you can do. But there, the penalty worsened (the provisional suspension was not taken into account in the overall suspension). In fact, by wanting to stand up, it was worse. I would have preferred that we close it.
How do you see the future with this suspension which will run until December 2023?
We are trying to move forward on other projects that we had planned to do after the Olympic Games in 2024. So the projects we wanted to do after, we will do now. We always dreamed of having a lot of children (they have a son for the moment). And who knows, with time passing, maybe we'll come back when we can. Afterwards, I had projects in the field of sport. And there, I can not exercise the slightest activity in the world of sport, whether in training or even at the administrative level. On this point, we no longer want me to move forward. So we have to focus on something else.
"(Clémence) take things as they come"
And Clémence Calvin, how does she see the situation?
Clémence saw it differently. Me, I always put sport in number one. For her, it has always been secondary. In the middle of her career, she had a child. It never made him dream more than that. We don't see him the same. It also makes me want to see her. She takes things as they come. She tried to fight on her own for a few weeks. And then she took a step back (she's a psychomotor therapist). Me, I have more difficulty accepting that I am prevented from running, from working, on suspicion.
Do you still continue to run?
I continue to run from time to time. But I have always walked with goals. And there, having only maintenance objectives, I saw it differently. Clémence also does physical maintenance for health. We defended ourselves, it incurred costs. We never imagined it would hurt us in the end. "
