That can't be right.
Daniel Mesfun finished 12th at Boston and 14th in New York in 2019 and couldn't get an automatic acceptance.
Colin Bennie who was 9th in the Trials also couldn't get a guaranteed spot.
It makes zero sense.

Colin Bennie is listed as an Automatic entry. Daniel Mesfun is Eritrean so doesn’t meet the criteria for auto. So far everything lines up.
