Looking to add some form of cross-training during the off season and to replace recovery runs with. Looking for some time off the feet to give my legs a break from running but still aid in aerobic and muscular development for running (I also lift weights a few times a week).
Can't decide on rowing or getting a spin bike.
Rowing - (pros) activates more muscles used in running like core, back and hip range of motion, can get competitive feedback based on erg times
(cons) boring (I've used them in the gym and didn't seem like I was getting my HR up, also requires proper form to avoid injury
Spin Bike - (pros) burns a little more cals than running, can read or use iPhone while exercising to offset boredom factor, I can get a decent HR from spin bikes
(cons) - doesn't seem to translate that well to running
