Girma and Kiplimo will act as pacemakers! Barega requested world record pace
Looks like the 2nd best meet of the year so far.
In the M400h, obviously it’s Warholm against the clock. As much as I want to see a WR, I don’t think it helps that it will be in the low 60s by the start time. I’ll say 46.99.
In the M800, I see Wightman and Tuka kicking down Vazquez in the final 100: 1. Wightman (1:44.69), 2. Tuka 3. Vazquez. It will be interesting to see what form Wycliffe Kinyamal is in.
In the W800, I’ll take Muir to edge out Mageean in 1:58.95 with 4 women under 2:00.
The M1500 should be Jakob’s race to lose, assuming he’s racing (he’s not on the start list but I’ll take THOUGHTSLEADER’s word), but I don’t think he’ll threaten a PB. It may be more likely that he uses it as tactical practice. 1. Ingebrigtsen 3:32.02 2. McSweyn 3:32.80 3. Ramsden 3:33.12 4. Kejelcha 3:33.33 5. Lewandowski 3:33.96
The W1500 features the number 1 women’s 1500 runner in the world in my mind in Faith Kipyegon, who’s shown good form in two 2:29.x forays over 1,000 this year. She’ll be challenged (perhaps) by Reekie, Weightman and Nanyondo. 1. Kipyegon 3:56.73 2. Reekie 3:58.65 3. Nanyondo 4:00.22 4. Weightman 4:00.59
The M5000 is the Selemon Barega show, which could be optimal for his running a fast time. I think he will run a fast time, but my gut says it’ll be ~12:50, not another 12:3x. Also in the race are Yemaneberhan Crippa, Jacob Kiplimo and a 21 year old from Spain, Ouassim Oumaiz, who’s run a 13:13 PB this year.
Sifan Hassan goes as the heavy favorite in the W5000, but could be challenged by 3:54 1500 runner Gudaf Tsegay or 14:29 performer Tsehay Gemechu. I see Hassan winning in 14:33 with a big last lap.
Less than 20 minutes till coverage starts!

Why would Kiplimo do this to his countryman?
Ingebrigtsen confirmed by the organisers.
Kiplimo will be a pacemaker. Second group is set for Crippa to break Italy's NR!

Nice. Wonder if Cheptegei will be peeved at his countryman if the attempt is successful.

D’oh!—someone else just said the same thing...
Is the YouTube stream working in the US? I can’t get it going. VPN in Canada or Britain?
If Barega breaks the wr, Tokyo 2021 will be a crazy race.
No luck yet
Looks like nothing worthwhile for another half hour? I'm going to close down NBC Sports until then.
Anyone have a free link??
I’m on a German vpn and am getting the YouTube livestream fine.

NBC Gold.
In early action, looks like Kendricks had a rough day and lost a pretty mediocre Pole Vault (no Mondo). High jump nothing particularly good (2.24m clearance gets the W). Fan shots show that there's no mask-wearing in the Czech Republic. Modest opening throw for Crouser (for him) is just under 22m.
So I turn it on and haven't watched more than 15 seconds and am alreeady upset with the commentating. Did this guy not do any research? Femke Bol is the 2nd person I see.
No mention of the fact she's only 20 and is the world leader at400h?
Literally, I don't think he did any research. He told us what lanes to watch and didn't mention the 400h world leader who is only20? The girl is like a slightly lesser version of Sydney M.

As if he were reading this thread, he made full mention of that sort of thing as soon as the replays showed her win.
Please keep the play by play coming.

Likely getting a very nice payday! I also don't see Cheptegei as the type to shy away from trading haymakers with another competitor. He believe he can do big things and be the GOAT. Having a competitor push him to the limit will help get those times to a hard-to-beat spot.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
