It would be really cool to have an olympic event like this.
Why? Nothing he did is impressive. He would lose to most decent middle school boys in the mile. His squat is average among decent high school football players. And there are people in their 80s that finish marathons.
A 500 lb. squat is average among decent HS football players?

Probably average for any 300-lb+lineman, whether they are good or bad football players. I mean that's only 200 lbs more than their bodyweight. They are used to carrying that much weight.

I'm a throws coach and there are a lot of guys in high school that squat 500. And it's not even just elite guys, there are mediocre throwers and mediocre football players that can squat 500. I know it's hard for all the scrawny distance runners here to understand but just like some people are naturally good at endurance, some are naturally strong lifters.
This guy is like 5'5 and he's got on a belt and knee braces - all of which really help squat. If he was a few inches taller and wasn't using a belt and knee braces, he'd struggle to squat 400.
People act as if 500 lbs is some gargantuan weight. It's not. We have people walking around at 400 lbs who are semi-athletic in the nfl. Shaq was like 350 lbs and you saw how agile he was.
As we see with the 120 lb woman sometimes it just comes down to your percentage of Type 1/Type 2 makeup. Someone with more Type 2 is obviously naturally more trainable for heavy lifting.
It's also worth point out that these guys are probably doping to the extreme.[/quote]
It looked like they gave him an inhaler right after the mile
