Hi there,
I actually run in the UK particularly in the Lake District/Scotland. Do the inov8 fit a wide foot? I find the speed/supercross Salomon's very narrow
Different models of Inov-8 have different widths, and different models have different lug depths. Inov-8 has a five width fit scale, with fit 4 or 5 being nice for my wide forefoot. They also vary by heel offset and weight/protection. The deep lug version are probably what you are looking for, since you can wear your road shoes for easier terrain. You should be able to find a model that works well for you and the terrain you run on - probably an X-Talon version. I have liked running in Inov-8s.
I can recommend the 2020 version of the adidas Terrex Two as wide, all-around trail shoe for those looking for a thicker sole (long run, Speedgoat category). For me, they run nicer than the Speedgoats. The wide forefoot is positively luxurious for my bunions and has nice room in the toes too. The outsole rubber is one of the stickiest I've used, stuck like velcro coming down a steep mountain for the modest lug height (4 mm).. They are a great value at $100 USD retail with frequent coupon codes and sales on the US site anyway (Got mine for $70 and saw they were $60 when I looked on the July 4th holiday in US). The BOA lace version got a good review on roadtrailrun. For the wide footed, the standard lace version is just as good, $20 cheaper, and 10 grams lighter.
