Originally, Scott was going to write the article and had control over when it would appear.

Then a writer from a major magazine got interested and is planning to write the article. Scott has no control over when this article will appear.

Sorry, but Kip knows he's not throwing the LR investigation off track and he's not slippery at all. He, assumedly, is just playing around on this site because he can. To think that he thinks he's fooling the majority of the people here is silly and he knows it. No one could answer as to why a race they ran doesn't exist, could you?

Candidly, writing a fake post about a marathon and asking if it's next year is NOT genius, smart or even close to being intelligent as in the end you still have to answer to it and again, he can't. Anyone who wrote something positive about him and truly knew him and "believed" that he was not lying would surely use their real name and it would be a person who never used google. That person doesn't exist as those who know him know he cheated.

If you were one of the guys on his relay in Detroit and your team got disqualified because of him being caught allegedly cheating on his leg, would you believe any of this stuff, even without the made up races? Of course not.

Who runs and doesn't show up at checkpoints over and over again?

Who runs a sub 3 hour marathon in black and always covers up their race number instead of proudly displaying it.

Who starts in the back of almost every race and allegedly passes hundreds if not thousands of runners, yet is never seen passing anyone during the race by even one runner who can remember him?

Who repeatedly runs the 2nd half of marathons way faster than the first, yet again is not seen passing the average runner who is slowing down in the later stages? Not one runner was passed as he was allegedly running just over 6 minute pace and most were going closer to 7 minutes.

Most people who run a certain pace end up running quite a distance with the same runners around them. I ran in the 2:40's with Scott H's wife Karen for a long time in the 1984 Free Press Marathon. I would say at least 13 miles if not more. Out of all his races not one runner ran from let's say 11-24 miles and can say that they were close to each other for miles and miles and remembers him well. Why? Because that runner can't exist if it never happened that way.

Yes, it would be very obvious to believe that Kip has been on here more than once but honestly if he posted once on every page it wouldn't matter. The facts are the facts.

There are,as I understand it, at least 2 things holding up the article this very second:

1. the author, for the magazine (>1million circulation in 2009), is on a business trip.

2. Kip to tell his side to some of this

Basically, ScottH aka ClarkstonKent(the real one, not the fake one who posted earlier) is a Michigan dude and has been very close to the Litton story since its early days (Kip's a Michigan dude too as you know). Before the Kip Litton story blew up nationally, ScottH was going to help get the article done (or do it himself I think), possibly with a Michigan based magazine such as MichiganRunner. But now that the Kip Litton thing has blown up across the country, the whole thing's been handed off to a bigger magazine. If you still need to be convinced there's an article, get in contact with:

How about I just wait for it to come out? Scott has already said he has no further control over it, so him telling me it will indeed come out is not too helpful. Ditto for the SOKLR page- I already have an anonymous internet source (this thread) telling me it'll be coming soon, very soon, just hold on, patience, a few more details, really, it will be soon...

Frankly, I don't care that much, other than 1) it'd be good to see this guy get his sordid tale spread far and wide, and 2) it's highly entertaining. As you say, peace. And feel free to post whatever you like, and let me do the same.

My wife and I were actually looking to run a local marathon at around the time of this race and were fooled by all the fake info. What's kind of a crap chute now, is there actually IS a Jackson Hole Marathon:

When I was corresponding w/a Jackson sports reporter earlier this year, he told me there was talk, repeat, talk of hosting a marathon. They already had a half marathon, run in late June. It was during our correspondence he told me he knew nothing about a 2010 Jackson area marathon. That led me to confronting Kip about his bogus race there. His response was, um, revealing, to put it mildly. He claimed to have actually run a marathon that day but admitted he made up the names of all the participants.

I agree with him, write what you like but whilst you keep with the spolit child attitude about how somehow you're owed an explanation about the story, we'll keep telling you that if you don't like it then do your own story.

I quizzed USATF, to see if there weren't rules that would ban cheats like Kip and learned they don't have any. It's all done by individual events. A protest needs to be filed, etc. It's a bit of a fractured set up but I'm fine w/it. What's frustrating and has been discussed at length here, are those events that won't DQ Kip despite a lot of circumstantial evidence. They fear negative press and/or legal action - neither of which would occur. I suppose there are a few events that actually believe Kip produced the splits and can account for the apparel changes convincingly. Ah well...

Well, good god man, it's pretty obvious that you didn't understand why Scott changed what he was saying about the story. In fact that whole post was a big whine about how Scott changed what he was saying. If you understood why he changed what he was saying why did you whine about it?

You keep waiting until the story comes out to be convinced, and we'll keep not giving a crap whether you're convinced or not.

Fell- I'll point out (again) that I'm not asking or feeling owed an explanation. Indeed, would not really trust it. I'm just saying that there are many people (most have seemingly given up on the thread/story) who suspect it won't come out. That would be a shame- this deserves to get out there.

If raising the possibility that this story remains perpetually "almost ready" makes me a "spolit child", so be it. In the grand spectrum of letsrun posts, I think there have been worse.

I've tried to ask Clarkston Kent how much longer, and i've told you what the hold up is right now

1)the writer is on business trip
