Did Parvanah Moayedi think this thread died? Did she think it was over? Hahaha oh no my Iranian sister. Far from it.

Any news on the cheating front? Has she lost any weight? Did she buy a new van? What's the next big race she's going to try to cheat at?

Keep an eye out for any races in Texas. I have a sneaking suspicion she's going to lay low for a while hoping this will all blow over.

Who on earth signs up for a race and pays to run with 6 people?? I did that last weekend, but it was 18 miles and free except for a communal 2L of gatorade.

Guess I should call it a marathon and give myself a medal.

i think a lot of this stuff has to do with the odd pursuit of marathon maniac "status" per their rules. Looks like the last rule below pertains to this situation:

* The race must have all of the following characteristics in order for it to count:

at least 5 starters and 3 finishers (effective January 1st, 2014 at least 15 starters and 10 finishers)

* a race director: official results posted by the race director on an “official web site” or newsprint The race must be advertised (paper, flyers or posters in an athletic store, web site or other means of communication) at least 1 month prior to the event. We feel that this is ample time in allowing other Maniacs (and non-Maniacs) to have knowledge and to make plans should they want to participate in the event. If you finish after the official closure time of the event, you can still count the event in your stats.

* Race Directors and Volunteers: We applaud your efforts for putting on races for runners and volunteers for helping out. However, if you are to run YOUR marathon, you need to do it at the same time the participants are running it, not while you’re marking the course a week earlier or even making a “dry” run the day before. This also pertains to runners whom may want to make arrangements with the race director to run their race the day before only because they have another marathon scheduled the next day. Try to hand over the reins of being the director to a non-runner for a few hours so you too can enjoy running your event!
