About leg speed, that is what I think will stop her running under 49 at all. Very difficult to run 48 off aerobic power.
1:53 is very much possible, certainly. If she does end up running something unreasonably fast such as 1:51 or quicker then maybe the case for an unfair advantage will be able to be made by the IAAF to the CAS about Semenya specifically.
But you are right, it is all speculation right now so we will see.

Saying 48 would be very difficult may or may not be true, the facts are we have no idea. We do know that many, many men are capable of much better than 48 off of 800m/1500m training, and there is no reason to believe Caster's potential would be any different. Perhaps not in time for this Olympics but she still has a few years to go, looking at masters mens times she could probably be around for years and years.

She isn't an alien. Caster is still limited by what's possible as a human.
Many 800/1500 men that can run 3:35 and 1:47 maybe? Not ~4:05 ~1:53 guys?!

Jeez... The gal who finished 2nd in the 800 final ran 2:05. Semenya is running 2:02 at the end of a 1500, after running 51 and 1:58 just hours earlier. What would we be saying if anyone else had done that?
