Lowly Missouri beat Arkansas. But in the myth-world Arkansas MUST be ranked higher than a team they lost to because .... SEC west teams are unbeatable.

There is something odd with Foosball Guru Sagarin's numbers.

Missouri should be ranked over Arkansas.

Arkansas has a schedule rank of 2. Missouri 13.

Against top 10 teams: Arkansas is 1-4. Missouri is 0-2.

But, against top 30 teams: Arkansas is 2-6. Missouri is 4-2.

Missouri has a much better against top 30 teams than Arkansas.

And, Missouri beat Arkansas, gaining over 400 yards and getting 26 first downs, while holding Arkansas to less than 300 yards and 18 first downs.

Been kinda skimming this thread, but I did read correctly where somebody on the previous page or so tried to defend Baylor's scheduling by comparing it to Alabama's?

As if playing Buffalo and UTSA on the road is a tougher game than Michigan, Wisconsin or USC at a neutral site?

It must be tough for Baylor, traveling all the way to San Antonio, to play in front of 15,000 hostile UTSA fans.

It must tough for Alabama to agree to play their cupcakes on Alabama's field. The cupcakes' home field are much to small to hold 100,000 rabid 'bama fans, and 2,000 of the other team's loyal fans.

It must be tough for Baylor to play one less game than everyone who made the playoff. That extra BYE week they got is so much harder than a neutral site game.

Listen, you can criticize Alabama's scheduling policies all you want. I will even agree with you. Except for one condition: you can't act like Baylor's schedule is somehow tougher. That's a joke.

Baylor played: 3 non-conference cupcakes + 9 league games

Alabama played: 3 non-conference cupcakes + 1 legitimate non-conference opponent + 9 league games

That doesn't even take into account the realitive strength of the leagues. Now, I don't agree with ESPN talking heads who would have you believe that the SEC West could compete with the NFC South Division, but Alabama definitely had a tougher conference slate than Baylor. Arkansas finished 7th in the SEC west yet beat Texas Tech pretty badly in Lubbock. And Texas Tech was far from the worst Big 12 team.

So, Alabama had 9 conference games that were overall tougher than Baylor's 9 conference games.

Each played three cupcakes.

Additionally, Baylor had an extra bye week in their schedule and Alabama played West Virginia on a neutral field.

West Virginia, the team I might remind you, that beat Baylor by two touchdowns this year.

I'm not at all an Alabama fan and hope they lose to Ohio State. But I far less a fan of Baylor's scheduling.

Sagarin's maths is defective. There is absolutely no way his "maths" should allow Arkansas to be ranked over Missouri.

Bama not playing home and home is a douche' move. I could understand if they did something like LSU/Wiscy did, two neutral sites, but with geographic advantages (not to mention cool). Playing in Dallas this year, then at Lambeau in 2 yrs.

OSU has even reached out to Bama about a home and home, they won't do it, they like those "neutral" southeast sites.

The SEC needs to go to a 9 game conference schedule. Teams will only play those in the other division once every 7 years. So if you are a fan of Florida and want to see Alabama come to town, tough luck, it is only happening once every 14 years.

About the only certainty that has come out of this (long) argument is that the Pac 12 contenders are the only ones who really have to go through murderer's row in order to make the Championships. The Pac 12 teams have a couple games that are "lesser", but they normally schedule more difficult OOC and have fewer weak in-conference teams than the other big conferences. I don't hear the Pac 12 whining, but maybe they have the right, at least until the SEC schedules 9 in Conference and all the other conferences rachet up their OOC opponents and % of away games. Just my 2 cents.

TCU started the season unranked. Patterson is coach of the year again. It looks like they're going to beat Ole Miss by at least 50. They made a statement today but that's worth about as much as a cup of jack squat.

TCU obliterated a quality SEC team. They should've been in the final four all along.

This year was easy to pick the final four and they somehow didnt.

Should have been TCU, Alabama, FSU, oregon.

It is completely nonsensical that OSU is in this thing. They lost to VT at home and their schedule is mediocre.
