Penn Charter lost to Robinson and Webb School at Great American. Robinson should get a bid. Robinson also had a close 2nd place to Union Catholic NJ at VA Showcase.

Robinson took 4th at NXR, so by the rules, they can’t get an at large unless Padua Academy gets it. I don’t believe that Padua beat any autoqualifiers.
Next year I think that Robinson can autoqualify, since they return 5 of their top 6, and another freshman in the open race who ran faster than one of their varsity scorers
Any predictions on which regions will have at-large teams for NXN this year?
According to the dyestat rankings, should it be for the boys Coronado, mead, American fork, and Jesuit LA? How different will the opinions of the Nike committee and dyestat be?
Thats not true. James Robinson got 3rd at NXR SE. they won the tiebreak with Padua.
Exactly. This left me wondering why Padua was listed ahead of them in the results. But in post 128 it says that Nike goes by the highest placing 5th runner. Those tiebreaker situations can be tricky
I just found two teams that tied at NXN 2023 (Union Catholic over Tatnall) and they awarded the win to the team with the faster 6th runner not the fastest 5th runner, which supports the Robinson win over Padua.
This is a good analysis but is a bit narrower only considering the times raced at NXR and on different courses. if a team had one runner who wasn’t feeling by well or didn’t race well it can have a big impact on the ratings. this analysis is useful as part of the bigger picture but I hope the committee considers teams entire seasons and who they raced against. Teams should be rewarded for traveling a beating other good teams in major events versus running fast times against minimal competition.
Also, at NXR SE 2012, Blacksburg and Chantilly VA tied for 2nd and 3rd, and Blacksburg got an autoqual, and Chantilly took 3rd (and no at large). Chantilly had a better 5th man but didn’t have a 6th man

So by this rule, James Robinson was 3rd and Padua was 4th this year.
HOW ARE TIED TEAM-SCORES BROKEN? The Nike Cross Nationals meet and Nike Cross Regional meets adhere to USATF rules. For both NXN and NXR, five-runner scoring for team placings will be utilized. Ties between two or more teams shall be resolved in favor of the team whose last scoring member finishes closest to first place.
They think that Coronado, AF, and also Belen Jesuit because they had to run in the FL state meet. People think Belen will get picked just to get Mantecon in the race which is sad because there are teams that won’t get picked but deserve to be at NXN more than Belen does
