This is fairly conveniently ignoring that Cain ran 1:59, 2:35, and 4:04, won two USA indoor titles, finished 9th in the 1500 final at the 2013 world championships, and won the 2014 U20 world championship in the 3k. You were responding to a comment about Hedengren being nowhere close to Cain in short distances with 2-mile and 5k times - not exactly short distances.
I think Hedengren is pretty much the undisputed long distance GOAT at this point. KT, Fairchild, Trotter, even Rainsberger all had a say before this, but 14:57 is otherworldly. And I'm not sure if you can really group Mary Decker in with the distance crowd, considering she was primarily an 800m runner who occasionally went up to the 1500/mile. But I am very hesitant to label Hedengren better than Cain, when Cain's accolades over 800/1500 are so vastly superior to Hedengren's over 3k/5k, AND Cain has some pretty impressive 3k/2-mile chops as well.
