It might be in their interests for Tefera and Mehary to plan on taking it out at an honest pace, if they’re willing to cooperate. Tefera takes the first 500, Mehary takes the next 400 and then they just race, or something. Not saying I think it will happen but it could. Otherwise I think both (especially Mehary) are overmatched in kicks.
I agree, but not sure if the Ethiopian coaches would do this. They are different training groups/agencies, so cant know for sure.
Happiest heat ha, all enjoying themselves immensely
Beamish looks free and happy at the end but in the middle, when he's running a slower pace, his face actually looks like he's struggling. Gets me worried for nothing.
14 in the final is ridiculous and borderline dangerous.
Even planning 12 is too much. They would be better off to have aimed for 8 or 10 at most.
You’re probably correct that 12 is a couple of people too many. I remember at the European Indoor Champs last year in the 1500m when George Mills fell and took Ossama Meslek down with him the first 150m, and that was with 12 athletes in the field. Hopefully the final is a clean race but could hurt the more inexperienced guys in the field.
I didn’t realize that indoor track lane width is variable. Interested what Glasgow’s dimensions are. Outdoor would be 1.22m, Indoor as low as .9m apparently.
