This. Every time a US marathon is broadcast you can count on a Letsrun thread that is 90% complaining about how bad the coverage is, too many human interest stories, too much wheelchair, commentary is dumb... There are hours to fill with maybe 20 minutes of actually compelling racing.
So then explain how races like the Tour de France which is 4+ hours has full on action no human interest stories, no bs coverage just the race
Maybe this would end up being a total dumpster fire, but I often think it would be pretty sweet to have Rojo, Wejo, and JG hop on a Youtube livestream and provide commentary for these majors podcast-style. Would much prefer muting the main feed and hearing that instead
Citius does the sometimes; occasionally it's dumpster, but always more enjoyable than the official commentary. I think they're too involved with this race to make that happen here (Chavez is running).
How is the pace right now on the women's side for this point at New York? I'm not familiar enough with the course, but it's interesting to see Gidet hanging back and Huddle & Taylor right there in the pack.
They were on 2:27 pace at the 15km split. It must pick up a but in the second half because thats really slow.
Am I the only one who doesn't think his English is that bad? I don't think his commentary s amazing, but no one else's is either. People trying to cover their xenophobia with "arguments" are the worst. Just say you don't like accents and call it a day.
Not the accent. He's not adding much at all. Anderson is having a very tough time playing off on him. Tough day here for Anderson.
I think that’s Rojo’s point. The color commentator should have great analysis or be a legend of the sport (or ideally, both). If that person has an accent, who cares.
But if you have someone who is neither a legend nor a good analyst, then at least have someone people can easily understand.

Have you watched TDF coverage? They talk at length about the riders, their families, and the special locations they’re riding in and tourist and notable attractions in those areas. Also the TDF riders aren’t being followed by 40,000 regular people also riding the same route.

That’s easy. In cycling almost everyone in the race has a chance to win. Every stage is different. Guys win stages that aren’t even going to finish. Breakaways rarely work but sometimes they do. A 2.30 marathoner trying to run away from a major field has no chance and no commentator can make it sound like he can. Exactly the opposite to the tour.
Steve Fauble is listed under Team Boss. Is he sponsored by Nike? Under a Nike (or shoe company) contract, can runners typically choose which team to train with (unless the shoe company has a team, like On)?

Thanks...seems like Molly actually IS running her own race. Hopefully she is making her gear change now so she can grab onto the pack when they likely catch up. I'd love to see her top 5.
