The only reason I mentioned Kipyegon and Hassan is because they were brought up by someone else as examplars of being very different body types. However, it turns out that both appear to avoid extra unnecessary weight. If Touhy were a younger developing female who may not have a conventional build, then I would just say that it is great that she can run so well nontheless. However, she is beyond puberty, and she is clearly bigger than last year (at age 21). This expansion is from her choices, not body type. If she doesn't care about it and is satisfied, then that's up to her. But let's be real.
You say that everyone knows that weight is a part of the equation just like everyone knows that obesity is one of the worst health crisis our country has ever seen. But, do you believe people really know? It sure looks like many don't. People can't even stomach a conversation about it.
You are right that people may be healthy and thin and not look quite as thin as some, and that is no knock on them. They should be confident and proud of their excellent work. That is not Touhy, though, and neither is it Lizzo. Pretending never helps anyone.
We are talking about someone competing at the top level of collegiate athletics in a sport that revolves entirely around fitness and you are talking about obesity? Who hurt you?
Are you unable to understand examples? Sometimes, there may be one situation in a whole other area that relates to discussion at hand. You said, that everyone knows that weight is a component to competing well. However, you and others act as though you don't know this, evidenced by this thread.
In the same way, everyone knows lack of discipline in eating is detrimental to their health. However, it is apparent that this is not important to many.
That is a good point you make about Valbee. That foot strike... let's just say it's problematic.
The physics says that this is NOT the ideal way for a runner to propel themselves forward. Is it possible that the cross training is leading to poor form. I don't recall seeing this issue last year.
And, don't get me started on Natalie Crook.
Tell us how problematic it was for Steve Cram
True - there have been many duck-footers who have run exceptionally well. This is not nearly as clear of a detriment as wearing a weight-vest of lipids.
This is a college runner. Maybe you could focus on badgering someone else in to an eating disorder. Why do posters here just want to burn the world down? Your shtick isn’t funny or insightful in anyway. Despite what you think.

I genuinely hope you are a troll, because if this is really what you think, not only are you dead wrong but what you are saying is really disturbing and also quite misogynistic.
First, let’s set the record straight, Tuohy looks absolutely no different this year. Go pull up a video of last year’s Nuttycombe race for example, or any other race, and you will see no difference at all. Check out her school’s social media photos of her, no difference. What you are saying is just complete nonsense. But it is intentionally derogatory nonsense designed to fit a certain agenda that you seem to have.
Who are you to say what the right weight/build is anyway? Tuohy has a very similar build as Elise Cranny and Elle PSP. Those ladies are excellent runners and Olympians.
More garbage. You admit that doing the same to collegiate men is wrong, but hold that up as allowing you to be equal opportunity toxic. Just another low IQ what-about-ism argument. You must really feel good about yourself. What a shining beacon of light in this world.
Your second paragraph is 100% false. This has already been discussed. If you can not see the significant difference between last year and this year, then I have no other conclusion but that you're blind.

Ha ha, more gaslighting. As an expert in troll behavior, I find it not surprising though. Well it’s your opinion and your opinion alone. If we took a poll on this question on this forum, I promise you would not like the outcome.
You really do seem to have an unhealthy negative obsession with this particular athlete. It’s so bizarre, and kind of sad.
Polls are how you determine what is correct? That explains things. If we took a poll across all of Letsrun, it would make no difference to me as it would be the equivalent of soliciting financial advice by way of taking a poll at the DMV. I'll pass, but you do you.
I'm concerned with KT and what looks like a possible ED. If she gets back down to racing weight in 4 weeks, it will be beyond suspicious (ie. slapping her friends and family in the face with her ED).
This makes me wonder how many people posting on this thread have seen KT in real life?? Not just in pictures next to other tiny runners. She is far from bulky. When you can visibly see a woman's deltoids, it's not a sign that they are over doing it in the weight room or need to lose weight: it's a sign of a very low body fat %. College women in their early 20s naturally carry a few more lbs than the pros in their mid to late 20s. KT is injury-free and just ran a course PR in the rain. Sure, she got 2nd place but I'm sure her long term goals extend beyond NuttyCombe. I'd hate to see her short circuit her career by losing the "weight vest."
I have seen her about 10 times from high school through last week. She is more muscular now and she is the most muscular in the front 25% of competitors in her events.
