Fun fact - Brosnan and Rankin were roommates and trained together in the Bay Area at one point. Brosnan is atypical and not a run-of-the-mill kind of guy. Some may think his vagabond lifestyle was odd. However, he spent time with many different top coaches. He lived in Colorado, California, NC, Eugene and Portland for a number of years. He got close with certain Nike coaches and obviously gained tons of knowledge. I remember him doing some crazy workouts as an athlete when he worked with Scott Simmons in North Carolina. When I asked him about this he told me he would never train an athletes as he trained himself. My point is not everyone learns by becoming a grad assistant at FSU, driving a van and holding a watch. I’m not saying you can not learn to coach that way. I’m saying Brosnan took the path right for him. We tend to criticize what we don’t know. We do know Brosnan gets very good results with his coaching. No one said you have to be a fan or like dude. Brosnan is obviously well connected at Nike and with that people criticize and call him a Nike shill. When will the insanity end. I’m personally excited to see where Brosnan ends up. Maybe back in the NCAA or maybe with some kind of pro group. Either way, no need to hate. Life if too short for all this negativity.

I love this post. I forgot about Rankin. He was a stud running 3:35 before the magic shoes

You know Brosnan is posting in the thread when you see a lengthy BS post defending him with 12 upvotes just 10 minutes after it's posted. there aren't even 10 people that still look at this thread.
Brosnan is clearly posting and then upvoting himself on every device he has.

Phil Knight talked about striving to reach the top. “I’d like to warn the best of them…that they always have a bull’s-eye on their backs. The better they get, the bigger the bull’s-eye. It’s not one man’s opinion, it’s a law of nature.”
“Behind every successful person is a trail of haters.”

Love for the win over basement keyboard gremlins.
Keyboard gremlins is very funny. I love that term 😂
This is a very classic of jealous coaches. If you listen to the letsrun podcasts the brothers talk about how the biggest hate threads are always coaches jealous of other coaches. Unfortunately it’s human nature. This is why most people are unsuccessful. They put their energy into hating others for what they wish they had. This happens in all industries everywhere.

Do you consider Brosnan successful? He’s in his mid 40’s and has really only had what most would consider real success for a handful of years coaching a high school team. By almost every definition, for a mid 40’s dude, he has not been successful.

I think he’s one the the best distance coaches in the country. Yes very successful
Unlike the yourself and the negativity you bring to the table. It’s hard to see the truth when you’re so negative

What? You think he’s one of the best distance coaches in the country? Based on what? 5 good years of high school? Do we really need to list all the coaches who have accomplished mountains more than him. You can say I’m negative I guess since I don’t agree with you, but you are completely delusional.

Or maybe he was at a computer lab or computer store and upvoted it from every computer in the room
He will be fine. Plenty of coaches have gaps, good coaches, quality coaches, especially within the NCAA system. He got let go right before the academic year. Sometimes takes a year to get another spot. Sport works in cycles.
Hey even Dabo Swinney sold real estate before landing at Clemson.
