Baby faced? What the hell does that have to do with whether one dopes? Dibaba was known as the baby faced destroyer. You are an odd duck.
You're correct that having a "baby face" does not preclude doping but at the same time we don't have all the elements about this kid, Rhonex Kipruto, one of the most humble champions who has ever graced St Patrick's High School Iten.
Brother Colm and Rhonex himself are proclaiming their total abhorrence of cheating, and both of these icons have the trust of 99% of the populace.
One gets the feeling that jealousy, to a certain extent, incentivizes outsiders to condemn these two champions.
Sad times.
Well neither of us knows the truth BUT the reason this thread appeared is because he was provisionally suspended. So there is that.
Just going to reiterate the facts. Generic EPO during training(not in-comp)will improve an elite runner's marathon time by 5+ minutes, and be undetectable after 2-4 days. Now this is just standard EPO, not even talking about other designer drugs that enhance hematocrit&hemoglobin, masking agents, super responders, etc. Kenya didn't invent EPO, they are not the only ones with access to EPO, they are not the only ones using EPO. They have the most busts because they have the biggest talent pool full of people from humble backgrounds desperate to make it. Kenya is not winning because they are a nation of mastermind dopers compared to everyone else, just stop this nonsense. If you win you are(99%) on the juice. Denying this and calling for Kenya bans just makes you look like a naive child or delusional racist.
This doesn't even make sense. So Kenyans have the financial incentive to 'make it', and therefore the financial incentive to dope as well. But they're not winning because of doping, even though you admit EPO alone takes over 5 minutes off your marathon time. And anyone who thinks a country with so many busts should be banned is a racist?
How does a post like yours get upvoted? Oh yea, I remember...
This is very funny. Did he drink heavy with the priest or was it an altar wine? Was it a part of his "simple life"? And when Kiprop attacked another guy with a gun, was it also a part of simple and holy life with an irish priest? By the way, irish priests and nuns killed thousands of children in Ireland - didn't you hear about it?
I have no doubt this guy is guilty and should be out of athletics along with all his Kenyan cheats.
I think this thread is getting off course with all the innuendo and unsubstantiated claims. Brother Colm O'Donnell has been coaching in Kenya for over 40 years and has he suddenly turned into a doping provider/enabler? Highly unlikely. Rhonex is a super talented runner, precocious from a young age. Did Rhonex willingly take illicit products? Possible, but highly unlikely according to the vast majority who know the baby faced, always elegantly attired, 23 year old (but looks 18) runner. Can we let the research into his case come to a valid conclusion based on all the evidence. Thank you.
Baby-faced, yet he apparently hit the bottle so hard that it triggered the ABP flags and got him sanctioned unanimously ? Am I the only one to find it strange that such a humble and remarkable athlete could sink so low ? With no other reason apparently thann being upset because Covid prevented him from racing (when millions were dying...) wow, cry me a river, especially since the Adidas money was obviously still coming in. Does Brother Colm O'Donnell approved of such behavior (both the drinking and the selfishness) ?

He was how old during Covid? 20? That's college age for Americans. When most wild out and drink more than they ever will in their lives.
In 2019, Rhonex was running under the Police team, so I assume he's also on the Police payroll (like Kamworor, Asbel K. ) like many Kenyan elites.
These ABP cases (bio passport anomalies) are by no means slam dunk indictments of the defendants/athletes and once again these purported violations are wrongly published prematurely giving the jury a biased viewpoint against the defendant, in this case the baby faced, quietly spoken, always elegantly attired Rhonex K.
Damage has already been done, not only to Rhonex, but also Brother Colm O'Donnell, the short, rotund, Mzungu legend of St Patrick's High School, ITEN. This is a sad (unjustified) way for the diminutive holy man from the Emerald Isle to spend his twilight years. He doesn't deserve this.
There are many ABP cases which have been thrown out, rendering the accused guiltless. Rhonex needs good lawyers to counteract the (possibly) fallacious arguments against him. He was set to move up to the marathon in 2024.
Unreliability of Bio Passport. It is of great concern that someone's career be put on hold based on bio passport anomalies alone which are hardly slam dunk indictments.
These Bio Passport affairs are very worrying and could potentially short circuit an athlete's career, as is the case with Rhonex K. Blood values may vary dramatically without wrongdoing being committed. Many cases. Rhonex should never have been named without due diligence being accomplished which was not the case. Sad times. Similar to witch hunts. Rhonex is a God Fearing Christian. This does not disculpate him, just saying. Let's get all the elements before judging.
"Professional cycling has suffered from a number of doping scandals. The sport's governing bodies have responded by implementing an aggressive new antidoping program known as the biological passport. Cycling's biological passport marks a departure from traditional antidoping efforts, which have focused on directly detecting prohibited substances in a cyclist's system. Instead, the biological passport tracks biological variables in a cyclist's blood and urine over time, monitoring for fluctuations that are thought to indirectly reveal the effects of doping. Although this method of indirect detection is promising, it also raises serious legal and scientific concerns. Since its introduction, the cycling community has debated the reliability of indirect biological-passport evidence and the clarity, consistency, and transparency of its use in proving doping violations. Such uncertainty undermines the legitimacy of finding cyclists guilty of doping based on this indirect evidence alone. Antidoping authorities should address these important concerns before continuing to pursue doping sanctions against cyclists solely on the basis of their biological passports."
Kipruto merely the latest offender but meanwhile, in football, of the 2,846 tests carried out at the Qatar World Cup, not a single one came back positive
Coevett, Brother Colm didn't have anything to do with Elijah Manangoi. Elijah never trained in Iten, and Colm never went to coach in Ngong.
And to continue to think that EPO can give advantage of 5 min in a marathon is something only people without any specific knowledge can think. The same thinking the new shoes can give advantage in a Marathon of more than 3 min.
In 2012, I had athletes like Moses Mosop who ran 2:03:06 in the first marathon and 40 days later bettered the WR of 30 km on track (1:26:47) using shoes with the sole of 1.2 mm.
In the same 2012, Jonathan Maiyo, good athlete but not in the group of top champions, ran the marathon in 2:04:56 using Mizuno practically flat, without taking not only doping, but legal supplements. This means that, with new shoes (earning 3 min) and with EPO (earning other 5 min) he could have run in 1:58 !
It's ridiculous to see, today, how fake infos, repeated day after day in all Media (newspaper, television and social) become the TRUTH, and are guided by the interests of multinational groups (brands of shoes, big pharma and also WADA and AIU), without any scientific evidence.
To think Brother Colm can be involved in something illegal can only be the thought of people not knowing the person and the ambience around him.

Like which one appart from Kreuziger ?
And we're still waiting for your reaction to the fact that an elite athlete like Kipruto could hit the bottle so hard as to mess up his blood values, that doesn't sound like something normal ? Has the rotund Brother expressed any thoughts on this ?

You need to take that up with Jonathan Gault.
It did not take long for Ouma to find his first major talent. In 2011 and 2012, Elijah Manangoi had been training under Brother Colm O’Connell, the famed Irish coach of Kenyan greats such as David Rudisha, as part of Brother Colm’s Young Athletics Training Program at St. Patrick’s School in Iten. But Manangoi had grown frustrated at his lack of racing opportunities as part of Brother Colm’s group, and after the 2012 season, his final as a junior (U20) athlete, he left in search of a new coach.
