If you look at the all-time list outside of the African runners Konstanze KLOSTERHALFEN is the only woman under 24

And the majority of non-African women are in their late twenties or early '30s and that's only for the 5K

I'm sure the 10K is even older

Look at the ages of the top women 5K 10K at any point in history in the last 30 years And you'll see that the average age is around 27 or 28

I love how people don't like facts so they just say that the facts are untrue. People have been saying that about Africans forever but then many of the Africans continue running into old age.

Looks like the top women were 21 and 22.

And Americans aren't very high on all time list. Neither age nor nationality stats are encouraging for Tuohy.

Name them if you are so sure. Taye, Gidey yes ... Hassan, Obiri? No. Most in the top were still over 24 and likely are not done progressing.

She dropped 43 seconds between 20 and 23, a full minute from 19 to 24. Her 10k pb 29:17 was at 24.

Sifan Hassan went from 14:59 at 21 to 14:22 at 26.

Exactly. All studies show that there is no such thing as peaking @ 21. Even sprinters don’t peak till 25 or 26, on average. Distance runners peak later still, around 27 and even later for marathoners, 29 and later. Physiologically, this makes sense since building aerobic excellence takes longer than anaerobic muscle memory development. If you find an odd athlete that stops progressing at 21, they are not likely the legendary runners that break international, professional or multiple Olympic records. The data is clear, though perhaps inconvenient for doomsday trolls who wish to stop hearing about Tuohy’s progress. Not many fulfill their potential and even the best get stuck with injuries and unanticipated hurdles. It’s not all luck though there is some part that can’t be overcome with hard work and/or talent.

Well she ran 14:25 in the year that she was 20 and her lifetime PR is 14:12. Yes she had turned 21 before running 14:25 but Tuohy is almost the exact age that she was and she only improved 13 seconds after. So if Tuohy improves another 13 seconds, she will top out at 15 minutes. You aren't helping your argument by trying to dig deeper here.

And she made a 50 second jump from 19 to 21. How much has Tuohy improved during that time, 10 seconds?

Yawn. The top women distance runners tend to peak in their mid 20s. And the top US distance runners have their main progression after college. Now there are things that can distort the progression, like the teenage runners in Ma's army and the magical turtle blood.
