Your post doesn't refute anything I've said, in fact it just confirms it. So you predictably sidestep the entire topic of this thread and present yet ANOTHER strawman.
Almost no one in this thread is arguing that people born biological males don't have an advantage. There have been nearly 200 posts in this thread and 100 downvotes on your initial post.....yet almost NO ONE is claiming what you seem to be responding to. You keep responding to an imaginary horde of posters that think Lia Thomas should be able to compete against females. Read the thread. Are even 1% of the posts advocating for this? If not, why is this the point you guys keep responding to?
the reason you are being downvoted into oblivion on your own site isn't because peeple on LRC think males should be allowed to compete against females. Very few people are arguing for this.
You are being downvoted for your disgusting transphobic attitude presented on your site.
Maybe try addressing that in your response next time , rather than inventing yet another strawman to joust against. What's the point of that?
What people are responding negatively to on LRC is not your stance against transgender biological males competing against women, but your disgusting obsession with and tone taken toward transgenders on this site. Your article was an embarrassment to this site.
If very few people think trans women should be allowed to compete against females can you answer a few questions: Did Lia Thomas just win an NCAA championship or not?
Were here teammates encouraged not to speak out if they felt she shouldn’t be allowed to compete?
Do I need to connect the dots….
She just won an NCAA title. It’s clear the NCAA and her school felt she should be able to compete. I don’t know the number of people who think she should be allowed to compete but they are powerful enough they it happened.
The majority of LetsRun may think she shouldn’t compete but clearly those in power in the NCAA weren’t worried about it .
Don't listen to new low. They've been going on an absolute tirade for expressing - in their words - a totally popular viewpoint that THEY THEMSELVES AGREE WITH. They are absolutely unhinged at this point.
This thread is so strange in that the vast majority of comments have more downvotes than upvotes.
Anyway, I’m not wasting my time reading the article, I can guess what poor attempts at humor are to be found. I imagine that a lot of people here are somewhat aligned with their stance on this particular issue, but find their motives and way of portraying the topic distasteful.

Why? Making fun of a totally ludicrous concept of allowing men to compete as women, as if the trans agenda represents some step forward in society. Distasteful are those that push trans ideology.

Good lord. You side step.......yet again. Do i need to put it in bold everytime that I'm referring to people in this thread and people on Letsrun. You know....the audience of your article and this thread, the people downvoting you into oblivion on your own site.
I went back and bolded the main points so you could stay focused with your response next time.
Why don't you actually respond to the people on your own site writing about their concerns about your posts and articles on your own site rather than throwing out one more round of 'whattaboutisms' and strawmen aimed toward outside sources.
If your target audience is the NCAA rules committee, do you think your article making a joke out of trans people is the best way to sway them?
Clearly your article was for LRC, so why don't you stick to the topic?
You keep avoiding the accurate criticism leveled at you here in order to throw out some canned softball responses to views that aren't even held by most people in this thread.
Here's a challenge wejo:
Put down your predictions of what will happen to women's athetics over the next few years due to the involvement of trans athletes and I'll put down mine and in 3 years we'll come back and see who was closer to the truth.

This isn't that hard.
If you actually cared to have a good faith conversation about it, you would have interviewed actual trans athletes, psychologists, coaches, and so on. But you didn't. You wanted to punch down and write a painfully unfunny op-ed about it and use April Fools Day as an excuse.
Wejo.....I mean a post comparing you guys to a couple drunk racist uncles is the going to be potentially one of the most upvoted posts in LRC after only 1 day. Followed closely by a post calling you A-holes for posting that article. That isn't a sign that you've missed your mark? You don't think maybe you should acknowledge and address the fact that you guys flubbed this one?
Or was your only goal to stir the pot for some cheap clicks?
PS....can I get some free shoes for multiple posts heading toward 200 upvotes in 1 day? Or did you stop doing that? Or is it only for people that agree with you?
Once again the brojos sling some baseless sht and then fail to have to courage to defend it.
I'll defend it. I very much wanted to make one thing clear in the article.
A trans woman is not a biological female and I think elite sports should be for biological females. That's it.
I thought the most obvious way to do that was to point out that trans women are born with penises, will never have a period and will never give birth. That last sentence is a fact. If it makes you uncomfortable or if it upsets you, then that's on you as all I'm doing is pointing out a scientific fact. A trans woman isn't a biological female and female isn't just a 10-12% weaker version of a man. THE END.
Jesus christ Robert, there's more to being a woman than having a vagina, having a period and giving birth. It's 2022; stop acting like it's 1950.

Too true.
The BEST case is that they're so hard up for traffic -- in the middle of track season -- that they decided to troll their own userbase and I guess own the libs by posting an intentionally inflammatory "joke" to their site in order to get their loyal users to call them a bunch of a-holes and mock them mercilessly.
The worst case, obviously, is that they're a bunch of unfunny, out-of-touch, bad faith cowards who wanted to punch down and use April Fools as a cover.
I'll defend it. I very much wanted to make one thing clear in the article.

And not one of those things includes having a penis or producing sperm.

The point isn’t about the merits of “trans ideology” or their agenda, which we all have our views on. I think a lot of us here are generally against the idea of biological males competing in women’s sports. I think it was a poor decision for the most influential website in our sport to adopt a sardonic, derisive tone in an April Fool’s Day article to expound its views on the subject, and it certainly doesn’t foster the right environment for productive and considerate discussion of the issue.
Someone above asked if I thought it was worth pubishing given the blowback.

I'll agree it could have been written better and I am debating on the podcast next week after addressing to pledge not to talk about it for a full calendar year. So I was thinking of saying, I doubt I'm changing anyone's mind so it's almost not worth it,. But then I saw Weldon's post.

BRAVO!!
The reality is tons of people realize this was a stupid idea but no one had the guts to say anything. It's scary that so many people are scared to death to state facts. The whole winter I kept waiting for the women in swimming to just stand on the start line and let her jump in, swim alone and then swim on their own. Nothing. No protests.
So yes I'm glad we did it. Someone has to push back. Could it have been written slightly more sensitive? Sure. It's quite scary how this country is turning into China on certain matters. We don't have the formal censorship but we might as well.
Don't you see that when you write something from the bully pulpit that paints all transgendered people in the way you did that it could grow hate (and violence) against real people based solely on their identification as transgender? Instead of keeping this as a discussion about women's sports and a path forward, it appears to me this article's path is simply bash transgendered people.
OhIt's quite scary how this country is turning into China on certain matters. We don't have the formal censorship but we might as well.
Oh, shut up with this total nonsense. You're not getting canceled, your free speech isn't being violated. You're just being called an a-hole by your own users because you posted something stupid and unfunny.
Oh, it's China! What happened to the America of my born rich, politically-connected, prep school then Yale father, where older, privilege white men could discriminate publicly without fear of being made fun of? It's so unfair, for me, Robert Johnson!

It's soooo brojo to avoid all the actually posts criticizing them and pat each other on the back instead.
Why are you acting like you are being so brave to post this on a website that mostly agrees with your stance? Lia Thomas should not be competing against females. Not a controversial stance on LRC or in this thread. What is controversial is acting like a bunch of transphobic frat bros in your coverage about it.
#1 most upvoted current post on LRC now is one comparing you guys to.a couple of drunk uncles telling racist jokes. #2 says your article makes you look like a couple of a-holes.
