I don’t believe COVID is a great threat to public safety. I believe it’s a contagious virus that has a .5% death rate.
However, if we’re going to use the “we are at war” excuse as reasoning to take away civil liberties I, as everyone else should, push the government to go through the legislative process to get this “Declaration of War”. Until the government gets this proper “Declaration of War”, which includes getting approval from congress, I find myself under no obligation to comply to any war time measures to combat this particular subset of germs.
