It`s just simple statistical mathematics! :) 12:35 WR at 5000 m X 2 + 1 minute = 26:10 at 10000m! :) As I always use to say ; It`s just a pace thing! )))

Great announcing. That's Tim Hutchings right? And Sonia O'Sullivan. They definitely set the expectations and gave a good history of the event for non-runners to understand.
lol good luck Farah
i respect the record and the accomplishment, but now after seeing a mens and womens 5k and mens 10k record with the lights, i believe the lights need to go. It actually worsens the viewing experience. Takes away the drama. It is interesting to follow the clock and keep track of splits. See how runners respond to be a second slow or fast on laps.
and seeing three perfectly paced records from gun to finish, you know they are seeing the lights and they are having a huge affect on the performances.
not quite so obvious, but still very sad.
when will we get a genuine wr?
just disgusting.
What's next for him ? 10km ? 3000k ? Marathon ? Or just global medals/titles ?
Did Shadrack break the Ruppster’s AR
Only your attitude is DISGUSTING

That's your opinion. I want to the the limits of humans pushed. Give me pacers and lights and go for it. Even the old WRs had pacers. Deal with it.

He didnt even look at the light and he would have easily broken the record without it. His pacing is insane just accept that he is the best 5000-10000m runner in the world right now and also EVER. He could probably destroy the HM as well
first off...I think Cheptegei would of got the record with or without wavelight.
But to deny that the light is an advantage is BS. He (or the pacers) were a few meters behind the blue light and sometimes middle of green light. it would be impossible not to see the light in front of you unless you're looking in the opposite direction and I don't see how having that target the entire race isn't helpful

I hope you cheer up some day.
No I don't think so he got lapped by Cheptegei

idk what the time was but he was lapped by cheptegei, so definitely not
Well he got lapped so I'm gonna say no unless he ran his final lap in about 35 seconds.
The track was long. and he had drugs in his pants, didn't you see it?
Bekele did it in a legitimate race so I think his performance was better of the two.

exactly....they were basically spot on every single lap for all 3 attempts this year. they obviously have the talent i just feel this cheapens it
Has anyone heard from Banana Bread? Is he ok?

Bekele did it without cheater shoes or wave light.
LOL
1.Bekele WR was during an era of known EPO use when there didn't even exist a test for EPO yet.
2. Track spikes are not the same as road shoes. Track spikes all have platform "springs". Every era throughout t&f holds a technological advantage over previous eras. ...This was more exaggerated from the 1960s to the 1990s than from the era of 2000s to 2020s. Especially when comparing track surfaces.
3. He beat Bekele WR by 6 1/2 seconds in conditions 10° F hotter than Bekele's old WR. This trumps all other factors.
not sure shadrack got sub 27 unless he closed in like 1:55
