Hi Henry,
You are doing awesome. I enjoy your JOYOUS spirit! And it sounds like you are too! Keep it going.
ENJOY!
You forget that Henry is a hungry lion! A lion is hungry for meat, Henry is hungry for records. A lion's eye is not focused on how it looks or feels, only the kill. Henry is not focused on his weight or appearance (as some of you knuckleheads are), he has his eye on the records!
Henry - Keep your eye on the prize, and the rest will take care of itself. You'll know when you're ready to move in for the kill, and then we'll all feast with you on the flesh of your victory!!!
The prize is in the hiiiiiilllllllllssssssss!!!!!!!!!!

The second evening workout was great.I maintain the pace with the youngsters and they told the mile record is at risk,I will destroyed the mile record with no sweat. It was a 60 minutes training section this evening at Academy.
These guys are putting me in great shape. We have to train, eat, think as Kenyans and the running world will hear us.

Henry: I'm a little puzzled about the focus on the '55 year old masters MILE'. While you obviously could run a fine mile in your day, (3:59), shouldn't you really be talking about the 5k, 10k and steeple records for your age group? That's where you should really shine.

One thing at the time, when one mile record is in hand the rest are possible, why not.
First thing first. I need to get my original mind of running. The Kenyan habit ways of thinking and running the rest will follow.I need to sing the song first.

Oh! NO! I will sneak in and win it.
The 276 days of training phase II.33mwp+70mhc+18mcd=121 minutes.
Today was a sleeping run for me,I was snoring basically sleeping, while I was climbing the copperhill. All the muscles was so tight very stiff I believe it is because of too much drills and sprinting with youngsters.
The youngsters have extra edge anyhow I can't compare myself with them to keep the same pace all the time.If I can sprint with them once a week.It is a privilege for me.

The all day i was sleeping like a baby today and when got up I was strong with eye of hungry tiger.Sleeping alot in the midday makes you recovery very fast.
I got up feeling strong and the running engine was back on.The mind was fresh and ready to handle the problems of the young runners.I did 30 minutes and it was enough for me this evening I will safe it for tomorrow.
See you along hard week of training and so painfull in the joints but next month I will get the price for it.
Henry
Henry what kind of mileage did you run while you were in college? You are an inspiration to me. I hope you break more world records.

I was avaraging between 120-140miles a week to get in shape. After the shape is in, I avarage 70-90 miles a week plus racing in Europe. You see, you have up to put in alot of mileage to get endurances of stimina shape right? During competition you slow down and put in less mileage, channel the energy into more intervals and racing. The only way to hit the nail on the spot. You know the 80days joy of racing around the world in 1978 right!
This is my plan today.
To A College Runner,
The 277 day of training phase II.18mwp+88mhc+16mcd=122 minutes.I was blowing the pace today and the youngsters were sitting behind me I do the pace for 18 minutes.I surprise them today unlike yesterday I was in real pain and stiffness.
"You look slimmer by the belly says,Kris, whos has been watching my developing in training and he is copping with my coaching process.I told him training is a process to your body. You can't get it over night.Stay on the course and listen to the muscles, let the muscles do the talking, you will get the results, you will have it on your smiling face.
He say,"training is working,"commending on the runner, who just fall a sleep right-away as he was sitting on the couch.
I like my team called RonoRun-Team,we meet twice a day for five days a week one section on Saturday,No training on Sunday.
11 sections a week is my formula.
We are heading for evening section now,
see you
Henry
The evening training section was great 35 minutes slow pace + high knees run + back kicking + sprints-forwards + sprint-backwards,basically it is the concentration of the forms racing.
The intention is to form better wheels for good performances in the future races to win in easy with less effort. In other words run economically.
Stop steping on the gas bedal all the time safe it for later when you are in gear number five right! Right on guys!
Henry
The 278 day of training phase II. Saturday section is a long run starting from the copper Rd along foothills turn on commanche Rd on Tramway south to copper Rd for 100 minutes.
The youngsters have it 84 minutes but their turning ponit was one block north of commanche.I kept my course to find out my improvement and yes I did reduce 24 minutes from last week.
The course I was to run in 184 minutes now is 100 minutes.
I took the pace for 50 minutes and here are the youngsters could't wait for me to get out of the way.
They arrived at the copper Rd 16 minutes earlier sitting on the bus bench waiting for me to let them to the apartment for breakfast and Kenyan tea after that a cat nap.
Henry
This Kip Keino Mile look s to be right up your alley, Henry. Weldon is organizing the field. Check it out:
