Well I started out by being intrigued by the run now I'm equally intrigued by the this board. As a newbie I have some very basic questions. Nothing nearly as scientific as HR data:
1 - Will C - why on earth did you fly all that way and simply not tail him. You didn't even have to engage. Seems like you spent longer on the plane than tracking the guy. You went all that way and then came home to complain that he doesn't have anyone tracking him - YOU WERE LITERALLY THERE. Surely you could have hung back and just observed. Why fly for 8 hours to not commit to at least a week of watching him?
2 - Confused as to whether he has people in lockstep with him with the same HR as some have accused. Or if he's being thrown to the wolves, left to fend for himself with no support from his crew, as per Will C's observations. Which is it? One minute his crew are leaving him for dead, the next they're on hand to watch mule for him.
3 - People have compared his finishing spot on Strava one day to his start spot the next, claiming it's out by a couple of miles. Just my view but if you're gonna cheat, why would you knock off such a small amount? People are dumb, but that's a stupid way to lose a record. My Strava often shows me running across water, so I wouldn't read too much into that.
4 - Seeing an awful lot of posts directed at his looks. Please show me where beauty correlates to pace, otherwise y'all just look salty as hell. Let's leave personal attributes to the side unless you can show me where it factors into someone's pace.
5 - Saying it can't be done because it's never been done by someone with a lack of athletic pedigree means Eddie Izzard shouldn't have achieved what they did (In 2009, Izzard completed 43 marathons in 51 days for Sport Relief, despite having no history of long-distance running. In 2016, she ran 27 marathons in 27 days in South Africa in honour of Nelson Mandela, raising £1.35 million) NO HISTORY OF LONG DISTANCE RUNNING. You lot would be stripping Leicester City of their Premier League title if you had the chance judging by some of the reasoning used here. Man City spent more and had better players, therefore this must be a hoax.
6 - Finding a crew, some of which people claim to be doing half of the miles for him, only for Will G to come out at the end of it with all the glory? And all the endorsements and fame? Wow. Find me friends like that. You're asking 4/5 people to do the work with only one coming out as the victor? Unlikely.
7 - There's a week left. Is anyone on here actually going to go and respectfully watch him? Or just mimic the last 50 days on here of mud slinging about his looks, athletic pedigree and claiming he's pocketing money raised in memory of his mother? He's done documentaries before meeting the nurses. They know money is due to come their way. Difficult to be pocketing it, regardless of what fundraising page you're using. He clearly has relationships with Macmillan Cancer Support. If you think he's thieving from them, let's see what the giant cheque says at the end of this.
Like I say, basic observations from a basic observer. But the theme on here seems to be a list of questions and that Will G needs to prove himself, but I don't see much action here, just a whole lotta talk. So back atcha. Some questions and a call to action for the East Coast members.
