Watched all 7 episodes of Godless this weekend, thought it was well done if you like westerns.
+1.
Watched "World of Tomorrow" this afternoon. It's only 16 1/2 minutes long, but brilliant--and kind of heart-breaking.
Okay, I saw Season 1 of "Last Chance U." I enjoyed that but didn't do more than get started on Season 2, which I suspected would be more of the same. Does anyone particularly recommend the second season?
Also saw "Godless." I thought it was good but not great: glad to have seen it, don't need to see it again. (In contrast to having watched all of "Breaking Bad" twice , and "The Civil War" three times.)
Now, has anybody watched "Dark"? I see that there's a fair amount of hype for it, but if you've actually seen it, do you recommend it?
And what about this show "Legion"? Thoughts?
As usual, any recommendations for TV and movies, whether on Netflix or not, gratefully received! Thanks for all the input.

It's great. Just watched "Zodiac" which was terrific. Would not have known about it without the linked site.
Thanks.

It *is* good--I got a couple of great recommendations from it, movies I otherwise would never have seen--but it's not perfect.
It said that one of the top 25 movies this month is "Hateful Eight"--which I watched on the basis of that recommendation.
Not a fan. Some of the performances, from otherwise good actors, were...not good. That's got to be on the director, no?
Also, I realize that Tarentino is a "movie guy" who likes to make homages to other movies and directors. But self-homage just strikes me as tacky.
OTOH I've finally started "House of Cards." Still in the first episode, but so far I like it a lot.
The last time I was on Netflix, Lady Dynamite was great. At the time, it wasn't well reviewed. Mostly I think because people are very uncomfortable with mental illness.
Sarah (?) Silverman had a recent set on Netflix that I thought was brilliant.
Okay, up to date on "House of Cards"--the last 1-2 seasons were entertaining but didn't seem quite up to snuff. The writing, maybe? Only one more season, Spaceyless, is coming--I can stick with it for those eight last episodes.
Think I may re-view "Sunset Boulevard" next--haven't seen that in many moons.
Oh, and I did watch the "Godfather" trilogy. In the third installment, Sofia Coppola (the late replacement for Winona Ryder) was not as bad as I'd remembered--mostly she's just not a looker--but it seemed like almost everybody in the movie had forgotten how to be an actor. Yeah, I know Pacino has been more and more of a scenery-chewer as he's aged; but Keaton? Mantegna? When the acting of *everybody* in a particular movie kinda sucks, that's on the director, no?
I also watched that series "The War." Had tried the first installment quite a while back and wasn't enthusiastic, but got into it this time. The point is that it's a sentimental reminiscence of WWII, not an actual history--once I accepted that, it was fine.
Midnight Diner is fun. I started Gourmet Samurai and it looks good too. I’m just bad at watching tv and movies.
The Killing.
The original Danish version was a hit in 120 countries, subtitles and all. The American remake is even better. I binge watched it laid up after surgery. Gritty and smart, a-one acting.
Bloodline.
Wallander.
Watch Dangal. One of the greatest sports movies and girl power movies ever
Man, I'd forgotten how good "Sunset Boulevard" was--what a great flick!
And thanks for the suggestions!

You're the first person I've ever heard say that.
Out of curiosity do you know where and how can I see the Danish version here in the US? All I can find is the American one.

You're the first person to ever agree.
The legal way - buy it on Amazon (pricey) or sign up for Netflix when you're abroad (it's available on Netflix virtually anywhere in Europe). Technically you can get it using a smart DNS or VPN app and signing up for Netflix as a UK user but, while not illegal in itself, this is against Netflix' user agreement.
FWIW, reputable reviewers didn't the necessarily favor the Danish version over the American one. Holder's performance in particular earned a lot more praise over its Danish counterpart.

That's because the actor who played him (Joel Kinnaman) is Swedish and not Danish! ;-)

Well, lol, I didn't agree. I haven't seen the Danish version.. Just repeated what I've heard and read.
Thanks. I figured it was a licensing issue, that's a bummer. I'll look for it on Amazon, thanks. I really enjoyed the show. .

Highly. I know you asked about two months ago so not sure if you took the plunge or not yet but I really liked it. The time travel aspect is very interesting and there are a few moments where you start to realize connections right at or before the characters do and you have some holy sh*t moments.
Also the black mirror episode San Junipero just made me feel good inside.

Kinnaman appeared in the American version of The Killing Series. The Danish version is all Danish actors.
