Some great advice I got in college: Figure out what makes you happy and go after it, but make sure you can support yourself. If you are happy, it is a lot easier to find a partner and be happy with them. A partner will not make an unhappy person happy, so start with yourself.
Mostly what I read in this thread and lots of others on LR is men blaming women and society for their failures. It is still a man's world. If a man is not successful, it is likely their own fault. Women have more opportunity, but is still not equal.

Have you seen how attractive the average dad is? There are lots of 3-4/10 dudes out there with enviable wives and loving families. It's more complicated than just having flirting skills though. The real challenge is that you have to be an engaging, friendly, and stable person that women will want to invest their time in. For a lot of men, that is a tall order.

I'll give a real-life example. Last night I went to an Indie Rock show at a tavern. The male/female ratio was around 50/50, while the ratio for the area overall is 13/10. A fair number of females attending alone or with a group of females.
Why's that? Because they want to see or meet the band members who are tall, lean, well-dressed, handsome guys.
But wait ... I thought broke guys (e.g. musicians) weren't attractive to women? That's what you guys think.

There are a lot of fallacies at work here.
1- most women don't go to shows so they can make the musicians into a life partner (or even to hook up with them). There might be one or two women there with this goal. The rest are there to listen to music. (If you are also there to listen to music, then this gives you a great conversation starting point.)
2- for those women who are there to pick up a band member - are those the women that you yourself are interested in? Ignore them. They will never give you what you want and pursuing them will be fruitless.
3- who says all musicians are all broke?
4- who says that all musicians are tall lean handsome men?
5- who says that money is the only redeeming quality that a man can have besides good looks?

Good read. Men, back out of the sh!tty deal feminists have proposed - we slave away at work to keep civilization running so that women can work at easy blue-collar jobs, get drunk on the weekends and bang strangers, while leaving us the scraps (which is a crazy, entitled mid-attractive woman who treats you like sh!t before filing for divorce).
