I have the same opinion. And I don’t even necessarily hold a solid suspicion that he’s doping, but it should be totally acceptable to ask the question. Guy comes out of nowhere and is now in the same league as Clayton Young who basically won the 2024 marathon trials and just let Mantz win. It doesn’t make sense and only a fool would just swallow the narrative as it is being presented to us by the running media. Shuley wanted to be a trail runner and here is the trajectory; attempted a 100 mile road race but dropped out at 60 (fine), 2:20 debut, 2:18, 2:11, 1:01 half, and then a week after the half a 2:07 marathon. The progression looks suspicious as hell. If a Kenyan did this the site would be up in arms but since he’s an American he gets a pass and “oh he just needed a healthy cycle with high mileage”. Like no other American has attempted that before, please. Again for those with an intact cerebral cortex, it’s a difficult pill to swallow.
