I didn’t mean Koch’s actual splits; the point was in an even-paced 400m, SML would have been underneath the WR. She obviously could run this race in her sleep, so her choosing to go out under the WR was telling.
I thought she had a lot more in the tank after slowing way down over the last 100m.
Hiltz is my least favorite runner along with Young. I hate it when she wins. And I hate the way they pronounce Mackay which is how Mekhi Becton pronounces his.
Another tactical mess of a race but still a good run by Hiltz, Sinjo and Mackay. Hurt me to see Chamberlain fall like that as Sacramento resident though :( Big kudos to her though for not giving up and still running a super respectable 4:16.

The point is no one runs “even paced” 400m races when setting records
But neither is Koch’s splits the absolute only way to get the WR. My original point stands.

My thoughts also! Does he make the team for the 4x400 relay?
I love Vernon. He will definitely be on the 4x400, and I would run him in the prelim and the final. Always a gamer.
Vernon is consistently good. He keeps making teams (even if only in relays) because he is consistently there and in the mix. Disappointed he got nipped at the line but rooting for him on the relay.
Mackay kinda barked at someone behind her when they were all still bunched together - Maclean? Then they were right next to each other on that final turn before Mackay pulled away down the stretch. Bet she's happy about that
