Oles finally posted their class. Looks strong, but not as legendary as rumors have suggested. Looks like he's mostly abandoned recruiting Minnesota in favor of the West Coast. Very curious what Chunko's recruiting standards actually are based on some of these times.

My favorite was probably when someone heard the duck was in a cross country house, and a bunch of Carleton guys dressed up as st olaf maintenance workers and went to the house to say they had to bleed the radiators. But it was a women’s cross country house (they hadn’t known that), and one of the residents thought it all seemed suspicious and called security. It turned into a big incident, with reprimands from the dean and mandatory apology letters.
Heard from a credible source tonight that Chunko has invited Augsburg to the Ole Alumni race because he thinks Bocovich and Kelly can beat Mo and wants to prove he’s a better coach than Nick.
Seems like a good thing for Mo as he likely won’t be challenged during the regular season and should be able to run away from the pack at Nationals. At that point, he’ll officially be the GOAT of MIAC distance running.
If I’m the Augsburg coach I only race Mo at Griak and Augustana during the regular season. Unless I can get him into the Wisconsin meet. He took time off last year because he was burned out from racing. He doesn’t need to do anything get race sharp and beat everyone in the MIAC but Gabe (if healthy) by two minutes. What’s the national record? After a half marathon PR and a full six months of training, I think he’ll be a level nobody in D3 has ever seen.
Congrats to Carleton grad and current Mac coach Schofer on having achieved 99,999 more lifetime miles than Coach Chunko yesterday. Seems like roughly 65 mile weeks for 30 years. Very impressive for a life long runner and student of the sport.
Two hour longs are getting close to Bait territory. Not sure what goblin gangster mode means, but the Gusties brought in a really good class and if the older guys can gain something from crushing miles they could move into the top four. A fully healthy Brauer and Poulliot are game changes for the Gusties.
Indy appears to be training really well too. The Carls top 3 is scary. All it will take is a couple guys to make minor improvements in classic Ricksy style and they'll be a solid second. And on a perfect day, they might catch the Oles sleeping and break their streak.
I'm more interested to see what sort of jump Bethel can despite losing Grant and whether all the new Gusties can help the current team move back into the upper echelon of the MIAC.
Nothing is bringing down the giant. Oles run too deep right now for an outside program to change. Inner crumblings over the next few years will be their downfall. Gusties 4-5, if they fight hard, they might just overcome Mac. Bethel is toast. 5 scorers graduated, the current squad decimated by injuries. At least they'll always have the 4x4
Reece was really bad in some ways for their program. He’s the best they ever had so they see him as their limit “man I wanna be like Reece” = “man I wanna be the 10th best guy in the conference” They end up running 9:40 3200 and run to letsrun to post about how great they are. Gustavus also suffers from this.
Oles, Johnnies, and (to a lesser degree on the grass) Bethel, see “we’ve had all Americans and d3 champs, I wanna be like those guys”.

The knights have the opposite problem. They will drive themselves into the ground because Wilkinson is now the 8th fastest white guy ever or something and now Roy hasn’t ran in 2 weeks because 10% of his weekly mileage was a tempo he inexplicably never felt good doing.

I ran at St. Olaf yesterday. The built a road through the middle of their course. That will be a nightmare to run over in spikes. I don't think Chunko can argue it is a better course than Highland Park now.
Chunko stated he will lie down across the road and runners wearing spikes can run over his body rather than the concrete road. I admire his desire to sacrifice his body so the Oles can continue to host meets.
