Hi there, this is Josh. This thread has been passed onto me, and I thought I’d better speak on it. It’s been brought to my attention that some people are unhappy about me using an injured friend’s bib to race on Sunday — especially as it was a championship bib.
Truthfully, I didn’t fully understand the implications at the time. My own entry had fallen through, and when a friend couldn’t use his spot, I saw a chance to test myself over the distance. I wasn’t trying to cosplay as a championship runner. The hunger to prove to myself that I’d improved clouded my judgement around what was fair.
I really didn’t mean to upset or offend anyone, and if you feel it devalues the effort, I understand that. I’m still learning this game, and I made a misjudgement. It won’t happen again.I appreciate being held to a high standard. I care deeply about this sport. I have contacted London Marathon letting them know I used an injured friend’s bib and will keep you updated on everything regarding that, but I fully accept any consequences that come from that (email below).
clearly a wind up. your imaginary friend would have needed to pick up there bib in person from the expo with ID and clearly a number to a marathon with 1,000,000 applicants can not just be given to a mate. utter BS, stop being a c*nt and f*k off to another sport you clown
