Ngetich is taking the win.
No.
At 38k, Takele is pushing it and Ngetich has started to fall behind. Geleta still there. Now he’s getting a gap on Geleta at 39k as well. Up 11 seconds now.
Jake 49th at 35k, 1:50:47
How many yen will the first Japanese man and woman make in this ‘Thon?

Think he wanted to run a negative split, but he's slowing down.
Kind of disappointing to see Geleta fade in last 4k like he did in Paris. He is an aggressive marathoner, but for the second time he is just not able to close with his compatriot who is in the lead.
S. Hassan sitting in 10th at 40k

Valencia marathon 3 months back might be in the legs a bit
Takele up 11 seconds at 40k. 2:03:24 pace.
Cheptegei is 2:10 back in 8th. Top Japanese guy was behind him so no NR.
Kebede has slowed to 2:14:07 pace at 35k but leads by 2+ minutes.
Jake still in touch with 2:13 based on 35k split, go fella!
Takele takes the win in 2:03:23, a world leading time and a PR by 1 second! Way to dip under a PR, Galeta and Ngetich not far behind. Ngetich gets 2:04 flat
PB by 1 second
Geleta got 2nd so good for him. Happy for him.
God bless ✝️
Not great for Chep but he could get pretty close to 4th place
Cheptegei in 9th in 2:05:59. Solid step up from his 1st attempt, he's trending in the right direction
not a great result...
really too tall for the marathon and had too good of a kick
Well there's Bekele - even better kick and ran 2:01
Let\'s see how this plays out wrote:

That's a terrible result for someone of his caliber.
Three Japanese men 2:06:00 to 2:06:23, I'm old enough to remember (2019) when that would earn a million US $, it was a long standing Japan record back then.
