Get ready to run after work in the dark more often! Because...
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
The Republican Party will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Saving Time, which has a small but strong constituency, but shouldn’t! Daylight Saving Time is inconvenient, and very costly to our Nation.
"Those morons in question appear to be people who think we use less power or reduce road accidents with DT, which is idiotic. The only weak but somewhat plausible argument I’ve heard is kids have to board the school bus in the dark in the morning, but it’s far from clear that that increases kids getting run over by reckless drivers who can’t see in the dark."
That's what happened when this was tried in the UK, the kids boarding the school buses in the dark in the mornings, particularly in the north, was a major factor in the experiment being ended a couple of years later.
We need to stay on the spring forward schedule, not the I have to watch an hour of fox news reruns before the early bird special (which McD's doesn't even have!) schedule. Right now it sucks that we essentially lose an hour of daylight in the 4 months of the year where its getting dark earliest. I could handle fall forward and spring back - doing it in reverse I guess too. The extra hour of daylight in the evening is better for most Americans - including most secondary students (due to sports and activities). A lot more children are involved in sports and activities than have to deal with darkness as they walk to school.
What about people who run at 7 am? Well, being able to start a morning run that late is such a luxury (most Americans need to start getting ready for a 9 am work start before 8) that its a niche case too.
In March of 2022, the Senate heard a proposal to end daylight savings time. It passed with unanimous consent, which means all 100 senators voted for it. That means that, if you live in America, *your* senator voted for it (in fact, both of them did):
Daylight savings time is incredibly unpopular. It comes from out agrarian past, and the only real advantage is that schoolchildren get daylight earlier, potentially preventing accidents as they board a school's. It also causes almost every American to be unnecessarily groggy and there is evidence that it contributes to auto accidents and heart attacks. And diminished mental health outcomes, at least according to this study:
Moving the clock ahead in the spring for daylight saving time can disrupt sleep and worsen conditions like depression, anxiety, and seasonal affective disorder. People can lessen the effect by adju...
This raises an important question: which is *more* despised: Trump or daylight savings time? If Trump declared war on hemorrhoids, it isn't too farfetched to think we would have people online streaming marathon sessions sitting on the toilet in which they actively strained to have a bowel movement.

One of my favorite days of the year is when I get an extra hour of sleep. The negative is that it is darker earlier. One of my least favorite days of the year is giving that extra hour of sleep up. The positive, though, is that it stays lighter later into the day.
I would love it if Trump ended DST. It really harkens back to the days of when there was a lot of farming and farmers could spend more time in the fields dugout the summer. It's really not needed now, though, with the advent of industrial farming.
I'm not holding my breath for Trump to get it done. He says he will do a lot of things that he never does, like ending wars on day 1, bringing prices down on day 1...

Justme22, you've got it all bass-ackwards. The Senate didn't vote against DST, they voted to make it permanent. Daylight Savings Time is incredibly popular not unpopular.
Secondly DST makes daylight come later not earlier (and Sunset later too). You'll see the opposite of that in November when the clocks "fall back" to Standard Time, causing the Sun to rise an hour earlier, just in time for the NYCM -- always the first day of Standard Time.

The amount of hours available for farming has nothing to do with an arbitrary clock setting. Daylight hours are determined by the Earths tilt, not by man.

I see the same idiot who stalks me 24/7 downvoted my post twice, no matter what. Most likely it's the same psycho doing it twice within a minute. I'm just happy that I've ruined his life.
