You don't seem to understand that as D1 programs eliminate spots or programs, those athletes move downstream to another school. UMKC will get much better athletes in a few years.

Well, if 1/2 of the roster spots disappear, better runners would have ended up at Missouri and Schweizer would have ended up at UMKC and Frerichs would have ended up D3.
I guess the worry is that people like Schweizer, Coburn, Frerichs and some other late bloomers would not have gone D1.
The relevant clear example right now is Olympians Rooks and Corrigan at BYU. Maybe they would still have gone D1, but neither would have had a spot at BYU and the training environment and coaching to become steeple Olympians.
BYU currently has 27 on men x-c roster. If Big 12 pares down to 10 roster limit where do the other 17 go? Ricks College in Rexburg, ID?

Roster cuts will impact a Mormon far more than a normal person.
Even if anyone in the team running might score in a given meet, in practice they rarely do, and simply take up space in the back. And then you have the many people who aren't even in a given race.
I don't really see a problem with limiting teams to 10 in a racing sport where only 5 score, anyway.
The logical way to fight this is as an athlete make sure that xc and track are different sports! No more BS of making an xc runner also run track without also getting a different scholarship for track. Make the schools have the 10 spots from xc be different then the 35 for track

Has this actually been officially confirmed? Did the SEC do a press release? I've yet to see this from an official source. Just Instagram posts, and "reporters." Not trying to say it isn't true, but I just want to read an official source if anyone has one.

Yes, but that football player already has a full ride. No student athletes should be expected to do 3 sports without a full ride. If they are just offering a partial scholarship then I would say well I’m just running XC or just indoor or just outdoor.

You must be from one of the coasts? Frerichs is from Nixa, MO. She likely would have gone to one of the many D2 schools in the region if she would not have landed at umkc. Missouri St would have been another d1 school she could have run at.
