Yeah, okay. My reading comprehension sucks. Making a second account to continue the trollish behavior was a very bad choice. The internet does like to make mountains out of molehills, but I still think this behavior is terrible. It’s a premeditated agenda, not simply a poor choice made when drunk af.
I take back my comment about you turning in your mod privileges. I was just being an a$.
That's okay. It's just another example of how easy it is to skim a post or article online and jump to conclusions quickly. I'm just trying to encourage everyone to slow down and think for themselves before reacting. Does the crime justify the punishment? Personally, I don't think we have enough information to really know yet.
To be fair, this whole wiki editing thing is more funny and sad than anything else. The other things she's done (accusing others of cheating, trying to discredit other performances that threaten her records) are far worse and embarrassing. She's abusive and abrasive. A snippet from the article, which I think shines a light on the bigger picture. And mind you, this is from the head of a global ultra organization, not some reddit warrior with a grudge:
“The Global Organization of Multi-day Marathoners (GOMU) president Trishul Cherns said he was appalled by the situation. ‘In my forty-six years of ultrarunning, I’ve never seen anyone as talented as Camille, who is so dedicated to creating division and animosity within the ultrarunning community. Unfortunately, the Wikipedia story is part of a pattern of interference. This couple has a history of trying to disrupt athletes, their reputations, races, and performances by citing World Athletics rules that do not apply to ultrarunning and multi-day running. I was appalled by Camille’s criticism directed at athletes challenging “her” records and her efforts to discredit them. This unsportsmanlike behaviour is bullying and mean-spirited and has no place in the larger ultrarunning community.’ ”
Camille has a history of this. It's time for her to go. At this point she's done more harm than good to the sport. Ultra running can easily go on without her. But with her, a lot of people will leave or get turned off.

We have all the information. You seem to be deliberately obtuse about that part. What's not to understand? She kept making changes, the editors didn't allow them, she was warned, she kept trying to make changes, finally got banned, then started up again the same day with a new account. And was making changes to others' bios to remove the kind of stuff she was adding to her own. Like I keep saying, not the worst thing in the world but super poor form, and honestly just pathetic and petty behavior from an elite athlete.
What punishment? Being publicly mocked for being petty and pathetic? KD got mocked for his burner accounts and deserved it, and of course it blew over. Camille is getting mocked and deserves it, and this too will probably blow over after a few days. But should her sponsors not want to be associated with pathetic and petty behavior then that's their call.
I don’t care about whether she remains sponsored but she appears to have little integrity. It reminds me of a former President who used to call in to radio shows, pretending to be his own assistant, and praising himself but pretending that it was his assistant praising him. So Camille is trying to make herself sound more impressive but then diminishing the stature or achievements of others. To me it is reprehensible. Is it a crime? Maybe not a crime but it shows that she is the kind of person who is a bully and entirely self absorbed such that she engages in deceptive practices and sows chaos within the world of ultramarathoning by undermining others and promoting herself.
What is the deceptive practice you are referring to? I am not asking to argue with you. I genuinely want to make sure I am not missing something. I saw she removed content that was against the rules from another athlete's page (nothing wrong with that). However, she added similar content to her own page (wrong to do, which is why it was deleted).
Well am I missing something? The entire practice seems deceptive. So let us say that Tom Brady is editing not only his own Wikipedia entry but also those of Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, Patrick Mahomes and a few others in a manner which is intended to bathe Tom himself in glory and to sully the careers of the others. Is it not deceptive to engage in this behavior? It would be different if it were on a platform like Facebook or something, where she could brag about her achievements and even diminish those of her rivals, but we would know it is coming from her. So that is what I meant by deceptive.

The information missing is her side of the story and whether it was her or her husband behind the accounts.

I can't wait for this to make it into the podcast now that track season is over and fall marathon season has yet to start. FINALLY ULTRA RUNNING WILL BE FEATURED FOR AN ENTIRE LRC PODCAST!
(yet somehow I know there's still going to be 30 minutes dedicated to the mens 1500)
I don’t know her so I cannot comment like those who do. But it seems what she done was wrong, ultimately it’s editing Wikipedia in a mean spirited and negative way about other runners. It is wrong.
But I’m not sure she should be cancelled for it. People wanting her to lose sponsorship seems extreme.
It’s not editing her own page. Nobody cares if she thinks she’s the best. It’s delusional and probably most don’t believe it anyway, but it’s the editing of other people (especially women) who are better than her at running and in a different niche, too. Like she’s not even good enough to be a pro mountain runner so how does she think she’s better than Courtney?
Writing a Wikipedia page to garner attention to yourself and your achievements in some sort of fringe hobby is a huge red flag indicating a very imbalanced perception about your position in the world. Maybe this is due to some sort of unmet psychological need stemming from childhood, I don't know...
The bottom line is that genuinely famous people don't need to write Wikipedia pages about themselves.
She was banned after making changes against site rules and then made another account with a different name the moderator would not recognize to violate the same rules. How is that not deception? It's just another form of lying.
