This is a sign of mental illness.
We have received an email from Conor Holt, Camille's husband, taking responsibility for the edits. Email here.
This is a sign of mental illness.
Absolutely shameful.
I also read recently that she accuses anyone who has broken one of her records of cheating.
Can’t stand her
This is wild. But it's a story as old a time, the greater the athlete the more fragile their ego can be. Pathetic, but not shocking.
Certainly bizarre behavior in any case. Fascinating article.

Sometimes as runners we should ask is running really serving us well. Or are we doing it to mask some emptiness in our life. I bet you Camille has serious issues she needs to address. Many ultra runners help others break their own fkt. Not gatekeep. She just showed she’s really empty outside of running.
Yeah this is like the epitome of a pathetic behavior.
Lost respect for Camille, just embarrassed.
"The Global Organization of Multi-day Marathoners (GOMU) presidentTrishul Cherns said he was appalled by the situation. “In my forty-six years of ultrarunning, I’ve never seen anyone as talented as Camille, who is so dedicated to creating division and animosity within the ultrarunning community. Unfortunately, the Wikipedia story is part of a pattern of interference. This couple has a history of trying to disrupt athletes, their reputations, races, and performances by citing World Athletics rules that do not apply to ultrarunning and multi-day running. I was appalled by Camille’s criticism directed at athletes challenging “her” records and her efforts to discredit them. This unsportsmanlike behaviour is bullying and mean-spirited and has no place in the larger ultrarunning community.”"

Someone who does something like that would never cheat in any way shape or form, right?
I mean, in this case it seems there are greater athletes who are not nearly as fragile. She is good at some very niche events but it seems as they have become more competitive she is unable to handle it.
Bah…. Doesn’t really matter anyway. Ultrarunning is just glorified hiking and shouldn’t be classified as running in any case.
lmfao how embarassing to do that and then get caught and worse, have news articles catch wind of it.
Letsrun needs to do a feature on this.
I read a bunch into Camille Herron when she accused Stine Rex as a cheater a few weeks ago.
There is ALOT to deal with there. That is all that really needs to be said....
Oh Connor, how far you have fallen...
I had a decent amount of interaction with this couple 10-15 years ago while living in the great state of Oklahoma. This sounds pretty standard for them.
Truly two people living in their own world. We are just side characters to their plot line.
One fun story was at a local weekday 5k, Camille didn’t win (my wife did) but while they were announcing awards she took the microphone and did a press conference style self interview of herself, talked about her training, this and that for like 10 mins. thanked everyone for coming out to see her perform. No one knew who she was and it was incredibly bizarre.
There were maybe 75-80 runners there total! I think 5 people broke 19 mins.

I recall her going out of her way to rip athletes who were draped in American flags after races, that they weren't following US code or some nonsense.
Though Herron’s bizarre behavior is rooted in her steely toughness and legendary ultramarathoning, all with a Smiley face just like her great-grandma nicknamed her.
