Respectfully disagree with your opinion but you have every right to have it.
First timers that did huge PRs are listed on the board here as if they are the rule. They are not. They are anomalies. Statistical majority don't medal and don't do well. eg Quincy Wilson.
To repost part of my previous post...
9 seconds off her PR is roughly 1.5 seconds per mile only. This is
her third 10k ever. She took a shot on goal in the race. She deals with
horrific uncertainty and pain associated with her physical limitations.
She lives where it is flat and hot and humid. She is female and monthly
hormone cycles matter if you EVER coached female runners.
It was a terrific showing by an up and coming handicapped athlete against the best in the world.
As someone who has dealt with crippling pain most of my life and came out an athlete on the other side, I am truly impressed by this kid.
