This might sound harsh, but the officials should have either called Heat 1 back (ideally this) or not advanced Fogg based on appeal. Not good to have 14 guys in an indoor World Championship 1500.
In a weird way this could potentially work against Nordas and/or Beamish. Both guys like to go to the back of fields and that’s a lot of bodies to pass in an indoor 1500.

14 in the final is ridiculous and borderline dangerous.
Going to be a great learning experience for some guys who are newer, but ultimately not a good idea to have a field this big and probably shouldn’t have even been 12 to begin with

Hocker has been known to go from 600-800 out in the past, when he's supremely confident. Wouldn't be surprised to see that on Sunday.

Its bad news for Beamish, Tefera, Kessler and Mehary to me. They look challenged at navigating the pack without extra effort or for Geordie leave too much to do. Garcia/Hocker’s savvy and Nordas/Nader’s physicality I think helps them. Unsure on Keter though he is used to huge fields in Kenya, but has struggled in them.

It might be in their interests for Tefera and Mehary to plan on taking it out at an honest pace, if they’re willing to cooperate. Tefera takes the first 500, Mehary takes the next 400 and then they just race, or something. Not saying I think it will happen but it could. Otherwise I think both (especially Mehary) are overmatched in kicks.

I was thinking even 12 is a gamble. Before 2022, there were only 9 in the final. And I think the only reason 2022 didn't result in carnage was because it was a really quick race.
Any race slower than 3:33 in the final will be some sort of mess with 14 runners. Could even be a mess if they go out at an honest pace.
