I'm continually surprised by how many posters here seem obsessed with what others think of them.
Anyway, l'm in my late 40s and run shirtless here in New England pretty much continually from June through mid-Sept. Nobody cares. It's the these nice, warm, sunny days that get me through running outside in the winter.
What do you people in other countries do when it's incredibly hot or humid? Like over 30 or 35 C ? I feel like I would overheat wearing a shirt. Particularly the humidity. Here in the midwest it gets miserable with the humidity.
I'm running right now in Valencia. Often 32-33 with humidity over 70%. It's cooler with a shirt on than off. It absorbs sweat and keeps you cool while blocking the sun.
No. Wearing clothes makes you heat up quicker and cool down slower.
Nice bump. It's not about age; it's about body composition. Flat stomach, shirtless. Jelly rolls, shirt, Please.
All the pretty woman are ogling me when I’m running shirtless and I felt like a sex object, especially when some of them swoon. So I must wear a shirt to protect women from themselves.
I saw the other thread and started this one as I think the OP made a typo. Now that I'm over 40, can someone tel me when it's no longer socially acceptable to run shirtless.
Or does age have nothing to do with it - just my dad bod?
I was in my early 40's and had just started teaching at the high school where I live. I saw some students and then the (female) principal on a run after school the first day.
I felt odd about it so I stopped.
But, 25 years later, I feel that there are two reactions to an "old" man (45-50+?) running shirtless-
1. Ewwwww old man, put on a shirt.
2. Look at that old man trying to show off that he can still run shirtless.
But all in all I would say- if you're comfortable, do it.

There is only one criteria: if you have man-boobs, do not run shirtless regardless of age or temperature. Otherwise you’re good.
Definitely. There's this one guy about 60 around here who insists on going shirtless and his man boobs bounce around like a stripper at bachelor's party.
It's actually gross. Some of the women were talking about buying him a couple running shirts as a "gift". I think they meant a gift for everyone else.

So its ok and normal social behaviour to have strippers at a bachelor's party but its not ok to run shirtless?
Well, I'm a very old man running shirtless for almost 50 years now (if its warm enough) but sadly I've never seen any strippers at anyone's party.
