I re-watched the race and Maatoug came on pretty strong in the final k. That last hill also looked tough. Is she surpassing Chmiel or was this a great race for her and an OK one for Chmiel? Do you think she will beat Chmiel at nationals? She was also only 7 seconds back from Tuohy which was surprising.
I think Chmiel will place in front of Maatoug at Nationals, when that point REALLY counts. She’ll dig deep.
Im not so sure Maatoug will count in team scoring!

It could be a critical point in team competition, between for example, Florida and NCState. It could flip a point down in NCState’s ledger.
??? If her team does not qualify where she finishes does not affect any team score. Like Valby last year was 2nd overall but did not count in team scoring so Chmiel was 2nd in team scoring.

Thanks for explaining that! It might be more interesting if all of the athletes, whether on a team or not, were able to score.
That course was exotic! Wonder if snakes hang from the trees, and if there are gators in that area?
They were saying Parker needed to drop the athletes with the better kick; turned out Parker had some extra in the tank left for a kick, too.

Gee I am shocked it looks like Duke will not qualify and hence Maatoug will not affect team scoring. And yet some smart posters downvote a suggestion that might not happen.
You seem to have insight on the UNC women. Did Kelsey have a health issue after the the ACC meet that kept her out of the Region race?
I haven't been following unc this season. Kelsey Harrington had a great season last year, but she finished 40th at the ACC Championship. Must be battling injuries?
