It is enraging all this whitewashing. "Oh look, she's a generational talent" [but let's pretend her past coaches weren't disgusting human beings and whose school allowed the wife of the accused rapist to coach her until the PR was too much." It's not her fault, but these "wow such talent" likes to pretend nothing happened.
Most top Americans made huge jumps. The ones who were insanely fast at young ages disappear. Think Cain, Ping, and Lane. Tuohy is next. But then look at Schweizer, Monson, Frerichs, and Coburn.
Choppy race and ran in lane 2 for most of the race. She can easily run 156 right now.
All the more reason why she NEEDS TO BE IN OREGON FOR THE PRE CLASSIC.
Do we have enough time to gather signatures? Since she hasn't signed (yet), this would also serve as a great meet and greet for Nike execs. Let's make it happen people!
I wonder whether there is still time to get her into 5th Avenue Mile?
Or, perhaps everyone (including the mods) just finds your constant defamatory statements incredibly obnoxious. You think it's more likely that there's an organized conspiracy in support of a teenage runner on an irrelevant message board, or perhaps people just find you annoying?

It's just a coincidence that she is closely associated with coaches accused of doping students.

Not one of them made a huge jump right after high school. They didn't make huge jumps until after they had graduated college and starting training on top pro teams.

Both are true. Yes, Astro is annoying. But there is something very fishy going on in every single thread about Wiley that doesn't happen in threads about any other runner.
I don't want to jinx anyone, but a real key for Wiley has been 3 years of uninterrupted health. She has also managed to navigate the 'adult transition' without issue. (of all the youth stars - Cain, Efraimson, Touhy, Roesler, she and Mu have been the healthiest)
I was skeptical of the 4:26 in 6/22, but she consolidated that in indoor. Pre trials she was 4:05/2:01 now it's 1:57/ 4:01.
Two years in a row, she's run well in the summer, so they are getting the peaking right.
One difference from Mu, however, is Wiley is a track geek and likes to compete. Obviously, she's not dragging around the pressure of Olympic and World gold, but she'll race year round if healthy.
I hope that she has these types of performances when and if she gets out of the Huntington sphere. Fair or not, there will always be questions and doubters as long as she is in that sphere.

I don't think you understand. There is a reason why his posts keep getting deleted. Because he cannot control himself in any thread even tangentially related to Addy Wiley. Or else it will just degenerate into this (which it always does).
It's "fishy" because every Addy Wiley thread attracts WAY more hate than any Rupp thread, etc. And this is a young runner who has, as far as we know, done nothing wrong.

At the age of 19, Tuohy’s dropping 25 seconds on her Indoor 3000m in a year, and then another ~20seconds the next year (after running high-level distance for years prior) aren’t “huge”.
Wrong. Schweizer dropped more than 1 minute in the 3000 in college. Frerichs was a 2:25 800 runner in HS. She dropped 2.5 minutes off of her 5k from HS through college. Monson dropped 1 minute off of her 3000 through college.

She just did a Silver level meet today. There is another 800 at a Silver Level meet in Italy on Wednesday and both an 800 and 1500 at a Gold Level meet in Croatia on Sunday. My guess is she is not going to fly to Europe for one race. She will sightsee a little and then race again. There are no start lists for either meet yet. I would like to see her take a week and enjoy Europe and race a 1500 on Sunday at the Gold meet. There will certainly be great competition there. Both the 800 and 1500 are "A" races with the following prize money:
1st place $4,000 2nd place $2,000 3rd place $1,500 4th place $800 5th place $700 6th place $600 7th place $500 8th place $400
She also had surgery her senior year and had set the US high school record on the distance prior to that. We have seen other runners with that type of college progression at the same distance. And she did not set the ncaa record right out of the gate. Took two years to progress post surgery. If you play this game, you need to cite something actually analogous. Here we have a 7 second drop to one of the fastest 800m ever run the first year out of high school. Suurrree.
