Tuohy is no genius but she is smart. She won't leave college until her eligibility is over because is the proverbial big fish small pond. When she makes to jump, her popularity will disappear because most fans don't grasp that she is a 15 minute 5k runner while world class runners are in the 14:20 range. I guarantee that 90% of people done realize that. Another 5% assume that she will make the improvement. 5% of us assume that she will run 4:00 and 14:40 in a few years, good times but not on the TV screen during a diamond league event.
Nobody is watching the Diamond league races to begin with. How does this work again, that Tuohy uniquely among elite NCAA runners will not improve? Whatever.
It slipped out in the interview. She sounded tired, thus reasoning for her guard down. But the reasons others can see, driving the suspicions. These things are too unpleasant for the sick stalker fan with the multiple handles on this board.
As I said before, I believe she let it slip out that 2023 will see the end of her NCAA career and she will turn pro by 2024 for 3 reasons:
1) she will have graduated
2) there will be nothing left to prove at the college level
3) it will be time to join her old teammates who have turned pro and are competing at the international levels in the Diamond League among the elite and are prepping for the Paris Olympics
Teammates who? Only Elly Henes has competed Diamond League... Tuohy in same events (Millrose) in college.
Hopefully Tuohy will go to OAC anyways.
Tuohy definitely running '23 XC, after that unclear.
Yes there is this thing called human biology. Anyway how many distance runners make Olympic teams to begin with. It is already exceedingly rare to be able to maintain a very high level from high school through college. Tuohy is already an anomaly in that regard.

Why not stick to the topic? Insulting posters is not allowed and can get you banned. How about explaining your position backed up with facts? That is what most of us are looking for. Most people don't like to be bullied for expressing their opinion even if you don't like what they have to say.
I will assume that you don't believe she will ever run 14:40. I will assume that you don't think she will stay in college. Since that is what the poster said and you seem to disagree, I assume you are indirectly saying that she will never break 15 or earn a college degree.

This is total BS. I looked up the performance levels of several elite runners and for the most part they where no better and frequently worse when they were 20yo’s. Stan Ford is one of several here who don’t realize that pro’s also progress and particularly distance runners don’t peak till well into their 20’s and sometimes 30’s. This defeatist nonsense comes out of ignorance or jealousy.
The facts are that very few HS phenoms improve and become successful professionals. Are you predicting Hutchins, Cook, and Wiley to be some of the fastest American women of all time? They were all in an elite group of fastest high schol runners of all time. How about Cain and Effraimson? Now how about Schweizer or Frerichs or Coburn? Massive improvement through college is the common denominator. To say that I don't think pros improved is the complete opposite of what is true. There are a handful of college runners who have made large improvements. Predicting 14:40 seems to anger many here when that would make Tuohy one of the fastest Americans in history.
So you don't think Tuohy has improved significantly in college already? Did she run 4:24 in high school? Or 4:06? Or 15:14? Or 8:54? Or her freshman year of college for that matter? And those three later times will likely be dropping again as the season goes on, hopefully starting this weekend. Tuohy is now a champion NCAA runner who has already won national titles, won the NCAA XC title, and broken an NCAA record. At 20. So that ship has sailed. Blathering about high school phenoms and the alleged curse is pointless now. The comparison is now with the top US pros who she compares very favorably to at this point in her running career.
