Wow! 24% is a HUGE number!. And most of those started in high school!
yeah it's 24% of the users say their coaches know, and 21% say their coach / trainer etc is supplying them. this is across all sports (including football which has a huge problem), but still.
just to further clarify - it's NOT saying that 24% are using
That is what makes Tuohy's progression from HS to college suspicious. The elite HS girls didn't go on to be the elite college runners. The aforemtioned elite college distance runners were good in HS. The elite HS runners weren't elite in college. Astro should be thanked for bringing the fact to our attention that abnormal progress is the main indicator or doping. Tuohy's is absolutely abnormal. Valby's is the same as Wayment, Schweizer, Monson, Houlihan and others.
I'm not sure you want to refer to Tuohy as an example of a 'clean' progression. But with anyone, big jumps from nowhere can raise eyebrows. It's becoming increasingly 'normal'. Which doesn't make it normal.

Wayment progressed naturally in a span of 3 years, Schweizer and Monson and Houlihan too while Valby's was only 3 months and all while suffering injuries, none of those previous top NCAA runners look as jacked as Valby too, no fat on her body at all.
So you are accusing Katelyn Tuohy for progression??? Didnt Letsrun diss her for her awful HS to college progression??? Lol
Let me educate you what a natural progression is for a naturally talented runner and not like someone who's suddenly running crazy times at 20 years old after doing what her coach (who ran for a pro coach that has an athlete busted for doping) tells her to do.
Heres a natural progression of a clean talented runner: 4:58 mile/ 4:54 1600m as a 7th grader 4:24 1500m as an 8th grader 15:37 5k as a 15 yr old 4:33 mile & 9:47 2mile as a 16 yr old 9:01 3k as a 17 yr old 4:12 1500m as an 18 yr old (post knee surgery) 8:54 3k as a 19 yr old 4:06 1500m & 15:14 5k & NCAA Champion at 20 yrs old
Also, if you know a thing or two about doping, they don't have much body fat at all. So you are accusing Katelyn of not being clean despite her having the highest body fat percentage of the top distance runners is really funny to even start thinking about knowing we all know what a doper looks like and they rarely have body fat.
According to you, astro, and all the other NC State experts on doping, Tuohy is the one who looks jacked, like she's been using steroids ever since she started running.
People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
She said shes was in a boot and her training stopped and when she got back she said she only ran twice a week, plus shes been injured twice this year and got 2 surgeries done right? surgeries early in early 2022 and after the outdoor nationals as what reported
seriously talking, how can an athlete whos been injured most part of the year even develop such varicose veins in her arms, forehead and calf?? if she doesnt train that much ?
anyone want to educate my ignorant self? letsrun always has an answer right?

My mistake. I meant to refer to Houlihan in that comment, not Tuohy. I have no reason to say that about Tuohy.
drugs aside, what are the other possible natural ways she could develop the veins at such short amount of time? in her freshman year she didnt even have veins like that
Wow. Tuohy is bigger than about every guy in the NCAA. How does a woman develop those shoulders and legs? Impossible for women because they have very little testosterone.
If people are honest there are very odd aspects to Valby's peogression, physique and performance history. The sudden, drastic ability to run massive prs. The strange ability to keep coming back from injury and to run big prs without regression. Even the interviewer at SEC found that odd. Plus the thing I noticed last year was that she came back from injury and kept running significant successive prs in the 5000m. Repeated big pr efforts were not tiring her, and she keep running faster. By the final she was convinced that she could run off the front and outstrength the field. The look she gave Tuohy as Tuohy ran by her reminded me of the way the East Germans looked at Janet Evans. What led her to think she had improved that much from regionals? Then she allegedly has surgery and comes back to run big prs again, which was already a pattern.
Occam's razor points to one likely explanation. And one that become exponentially more likely given the UF coach and the Schumacher/BTC connection.
Just hoping the national championship race is clean. But very doubtful.
You aren't helping your case by pointing out that Valby is leaner than Tuohy. So a runner who's fatter than another but runs the same times is less likely to be doping?
Valby proved she is faster than Tuohy back in January by running a faster 3000 in much less ideal conditions. Those successive 5000 PRs were just working her way back to the shape she was in before she broke her foot. She in now fully back.

there is a lot of common sense in this post, though I hate going to the drug blame game. I don't know enough to say it's impossible to have valby's body without drugs. could it be done with 3 hours per day of obsessive cross training? idk. Are there gray area supplements she could be taking to get that?
Even if she is on something that is only good for taking off weight, her times are still ridiculous considering her plethora of injuries and little time spent running.
