katelyn losing this acc 5000m means she will not lose the next ones, i get the pattern now
I hope you are right. I really want her to win the NCAA title this year. I wonder if her running the 5K yesterday did more harm than good. She had such a high with the 1500 win, and she has had such a good season. It seems like terrible timing to have a bad race and loss as the final note going into regionals. I hope that doesn't mess with her head.
I figured out what is going on. Tuohy was not in Durham to race, she was there to train. Running a 5000 on tired legs against good competition was the last major bullet point in her training plan. The 1500 was simply a means to an end. That's why she went out fast (but stayed under control). She was setting herself up to have to dig deep during the 5000.
There was never a question of doing the 1500 at NCAAs. It's only ever been a training tool this season, including Saturday evening. Of course KT would have liked to have won the 5000 at ACCs, but that's not the real prize.

pretty much every time katelyn loses or gets up'd, she comes back guns blazing ... thats is what kept her in the game, that has what kept her improving, you hand her L, she hands it to you, her drive is unlike anyone else, she loves to push herself and she cannot do that alone, she needs runners like sam bush, and last year it was kelsey chmiel... kelsey credits her performance to her teammates, and so does katelyn, and im sure sam bush also.

nice take! makes sense! this is really all training, i mean.. she said it herself that it is...looking forward to her improvements! shes been working so so hard! hope her efforts get rewarded~
mercy after losing indoor seems to have been motivated to get even better, she doubled 10k/5k and won the 5000m in 15:22 !! you can easily see she can also throw down a 15:0x !!!!!
the ncaa outdoor 5000m will be a national record race .. thats for sure .. the record for outdoor is 15:07 if im not mistaken, that will go down (if weather cooperates)

Of the top 11 W 5000 m times, 7 are ranked high in the 10000 also (including Chelangat at 20 but we know she is better than that). How many of them skip that to get into a race with a fresh Tuohy, Roe, Magness and a few more?

Two other likely speedy ones--Frerichs' 3000S mark of 9:24 could fall if the leaders get after it and Nur running 13 dead wouldn't be totally shocking.
Does anyone know at what specific temp the officials will postpone a 3000S or 5000 until later in the day?
Can't wait to watch her obliterate the top US 1500 runners. Just a matter of time. Get the popcorn out
would love to see that, but then again her college training doesn't focus on that distance rather uses that distance as a workout for the longer distances..tuohy has so much potential to be a 1500m/mile champion but shes very focused on the 5000m with coach laurie henes
