Her sister and many family members, plus many of her sister's friends/old teammates have liked/commented not just the post but numerous comments. Lucia wasn't in any of the workout pictures or videos the team posted last week so I'd say she's probably done too. Plus Canadian track people saying she's already back in Toronto.
The fact that Lucia joined in October and leaves in April to me is a big sign that whatever they say, something happened in the interim beyond just "GDS couldn't hack the public pressure of Shelby's ban."
The anti-BTCers must be off work. My comments regarding that the real reason for her leaving was about something other Shelby were downvoted. Your's gets upvotes. This thread has little to do with GDS, and a lot to do with pointing fingers at BTC and any athlete involved with them. Amazingly, one poster wishes for the "good old days" of NOP coming back to give someone to cheer for. #sad.
A lot of people are off work on a Sunday, regardless of their opinions of BTC. You weren’t downvoted for being pro-BTC, you were downvoted for unnecessarily attacking Gabriela.

Saying she would have been better off saying she was moving on without pointing fingers was deemed by people like you as an attack.
You, and others, downvoting only serves to prove that this entire thread is primarily an attack on BTC and has very little to do with BTC.
So I have some connections in the Portland area and I've heard (Allegedly) that Centro and one other goofball also tested postiive for the ol' nadrolone recently but it was just under the legal limit for USADA... so her and her sisters move may be more than just "contract" issues and shelby's scandal lol.
If Centro has ever cheated, it didn’t happen after 2016. He accomplished the ultimate and if he got busted now, he would be flushing his Gold Medal down the toilet. He, his Dad and Schumacher are not that stupid.
Again there is always a backstory, always some grasping explanation why such and such athlete could not run close to a world or even national class time all through college, joins a pro team and presto is running 14:25. It was not their focus. Or they only ran low mileage. Or they were injured. Etc. We are not stupid.
To be competive in professional and international distance running you need to rely on chemistry. Those are the facts of life. I treat pro running like cycling, accept that the sport is forever compromised by doping, and assume that all of the top pro runners are doping. But lets at least stop deluding ourselves that when a runner suddenly starts running times never suggested anywhere in their competive history as a distance runner, and better still after college, that it is clean. It isn't. I mean, please. You would have to be a masochistic idiot to try to compete as a pro distance runner without PEDs.
Hey pal, this is letsrun. When it comes to doping, don’t bother thinking critically. Next time you post about this subject, follow this guide to avoided getting downvoted, ok?
Anyone who is from my country, or from another country I like, is clean, unless they are a sprinter and/or black in which case they’re probably dirty. Anyone who I think is a nice person is clean. Anyone who goes from an also-ran to a world beater in one season after years of training as a professional and then fails a drug test is clean because she ate tainted meat, the anti-doping system is unfair to clean athletes, her friends all said she would never cheat, and I don’t even know what nandrolone is.
Anyone from a country in Africa or any other country that I think has a “culture of doping” is dirty. This obviously applies to immigrants as well. If someone has a meteoric rise, they are dirty, unless they fit any of the above criteria for being clean, in which case they worked really hard, used to struggle with injuries, never trained for the event, and are a late bloomer. Anyone who I dislike, for any reason, is also dirty, as is anyone who Nick Willis or Kara Goucher finds suspicious.
I don't think we need to look any more deeply into this. Schumacher and Flanagan have made a choice. They could have said "sorry Shelby, we think you're innocent, but the evidence says otherwise. You're banned from competing so we need to cut you loose so that our other athletes don't have to deal with the fallout." But they didn't. They have continued to treat Houlihan as an adjunct member of BTC. Their actions say very clearly that Houlihan matters over and above every other athlete on that team. They don't care that it gives people a reason to raise questions about Grant Fisher's US records or the big improvements made by GDS and Cranny. And all for what? So they can help Houlihan run time trials on her own? Such skewed priorities

THIS IS IT.....hard to feel that you, or your ethics, are valued in a situation like this. So you either put your head in the sand, or move on...

Agreed, but all that (mostly) happened before Lucia joined. Makes me think that potentially something happened in the post-LS joining period. Either that, or to take GDS post at face value the thing that happened was internal to GDS in the sense that she realized she could not withstand the pressure of the situation

“And I think it’s really important to consider who you associate with. We don’t get to choose our parents, but we certainly get to choose our friends and our coaches and who we want to include in our circle and put our faith and our trust in. I think it’s really important to think about who you include in your professional circle in this sport, and I think that who you choose to allow in says a lot about you.”

Yup. You boys continue to confirm that this thread's is an attack on BTC and all of their athletes. The giveaway was in the title . . . cites Houlihan explicitly = Attack BTC!
Your anti-BTC team should able put up 10+ downvotes to this post within the next hour. Get to work trolling, boys.

The loyalty to me seems indicative of Shelby's innocence. And you can't say they're all just covering for her because they all get tested constantly too. Grant Fisher even talked about clean athletes on the podcast. I think GDS just got sick of other people questioning her and the team because of Shelby, and she never had a connection to Shelby or the rest of the team so it wasn't worth it. Plus she doesn't have much in common with the rest of the team it seems.
Shelby’s excuse for her positive test was incredibly laughable and so obviously a lie that I don’t know how anyone ever took it seriously. The fact that her teammates continue to support her in spite of this should indicate to you that they are simply trying to cover their own asses. Consistently passing drug tests is not an indication of innocence because the dopers are always ahead of the testers.
It is still laughable how the lab director lied against Jerrion lawson and was able to testify again in court without punishment.
In my opinion this move by GDS is weak and her performances will be un-notable by the next WC cycle. If this was my teammate and I swore innocence to her she should support me. obviously not the case here. #horribleteammate

Right, the woman who made her first olympic team as a 20 year old collegian, and ran 2:00i/3:56/14:44 aged 24 before she ever joined BTC is going to be totally screwed now.
Sarcasm aside, I also realized that Hillary Stellingwerf and Jerry Schumacher would have overlapped at Wisconsin. Wonder if there have been any texts back and forth in the last couple of weeks.
Interesting to see her leave while citing Shelby as the reason. If she was 100% confident that her and her team are clean, the talk about Shelby being guilty shouldn't bother her. I have lost so much respect for BTC since all this has happened, and I'm sure many others have, too. Hard to believe everyone else is clean, seeing how they allow a banned athlete practice with/hang around them as if nothing happened.
Especially with Shalane - I've been a big fan of hers since forever, but clearly she's more concerned about the times Shelby's hitting in practice than having the public know she's coaching an athlete caught doping. Practice what you preach - she's said before how it matters who you're around and now she's tossing that value out the window. Not a good look and definitely #not good for the sport.
After nearly a decade of USADA and CAS proceedings, I highly doubt that Ritz wants or expects to be anywhere near Beaverton ever again.
He’s got a great setup at OAC — as close as it gets to a blank cheque, a sponsor willing to pay for top talent, and real influence over product development.
All the OAC guys are on TUEs for thyroid meds so he may not have had enough yet!
