maybe because biles has like 30x the accomplishment durant has, and to my knowledge durant wasn't sexually abused over the course of about a decade by a team doctor

I think her withdrawal was a selfless act. Most superstar athletes are so pumped up with their monster egos that they cannot recognize when it isn't happening and they need to sub out. This video was literally 6 weeks ago, in the middle of the series they got bounced. Philly Fans bend over backwards for Ben Simmons and have given him nothing but support. He made a three in a scrimmage and it was all they talked about on WIP and 97.5 for a week.

Simone owes nobody nothing. Good on her.

As far as Biles goes, I don't know what is going on in her mind, so I can't really determine.

This thread is embarrassing. Biles is by far the best athlete of her generation, but she's not God. In her current state, it was the correct decision to withdraw because *in her current state* her teammates were better than her. What good does being mentally tough do for anyone if she would've failed, and even worse, perhaps got injured? It was clear she's been off her A game. Maybe her A- game is still good enough to win, but not her B game.

She had to deal with that sexual abuser as a team doctor, won everything, was hyped by the media like almost no one else, and eventually it was too much pressure for her. But I'm sure the resident armchair experts never ever have a bad day. Have some empathy ffs.

I don't put a lot of credence in what I hear people say in interviews taken in the heat of the moment. Or, in tweets of a few words. Or what commentators have to say. (Frankly, the level of commentary has been pretty superficial in most events so far.)

She didn't say it outright, but she probably got the yips and as a result, injured her ankle or foot. She didn't want to make it all about the injury so she admitted that she was under stress. Probably not the best marketing move... but it's what she felt so she said it.

I don't know what's really going on behind these public comments. Truth be told, no one here does.

If her foot is just sprained a little, I'd expect to see her back for the individual competitions.

also simmons is a HILARIOUS example because he's not in tokyo with his australian teammates, he's taking time off to work on himself and his game

that's 20000% more of a quitter than biles is/was, the second that dude steps on the court he's the best player that australia has but he's not there at all
