I can't describe, literally I'm lost for words right now, how touched I am by all of you. Thank you all for encouraging, inspiring and educating me throughout the last 30 months. The beauty of this messageboard and site is the sheer willingness to share knowledge and inspire others to make their dreams become reality. My dream literally did become a reality yesterday afternoon, and I am so joyful that I got to share that moment with all of you.

I'll continue to set goals, and I hope all of you do the same. I haven't decided what my next goal is, but an olympic trials standard has always been on my mind.

I got a lot of criticism in the beginning after posting my workouts(running speed workouts twice a day, 4x/week), and I totally agree that it's not the way to go. However, my coach has changed so much, and his willingness to be flexible in workouts is a very unique quality.

He's been telling me since last year that I have the ability to run 355. And after so many races and practices, I can finally agree with him. You're an amazing coach, and we'll all miss you. Thank you for so many laughs, and I hope Jose, Jose, Ryan and I continue to be a part of your life after college. Cheers, Coach!

I had a breakout race(hahaha called it that...1659 @ a short 3mile course..frosh year I ran 1951 for my pr there) , and ever since I wanted to be a great runner. I still have a long way to go, but I'm extremely grateful that this website is available. So many resources are available, and the entire Letsrun team is doing an incredible job. Truly the best running website in the world!! :) :)

I dont know how you would go about this but does anyone think there is a chance that the general media would pick up this story.

I mean whilst the time itself is not unique, the period of time, and number of posts that has elapsed during the goal of sub 4. Not to mention the out pouring of congrats from regular posters on what we'd all admit has turned into a fairly negative board. And then eddy posting his post race thoughts and thanking the board for their encouragement.

When you seem some of the feel good crap stories on the news nowadays - why could this not be one of those stories?

Congrats Eddy. After you get the monkey of sub 4 off your back - the next 4 - 8 seconds will be much easier. I think 3.52 should be the 2011 goal!

The fact that he worked for this goal for 3 years and finally accomplished it is awesome. How many people make big goals all the time only to quit? He saw it through! EDDY LEE!!!!!!!

I just read the thread from page 65 or so and I reluctantly admit that I got all teary-eyed when the big moment set in. There's a beautiful lesson about "community" and, indeed, humanity in this story.

So who wants to write the book which parallels our friend Eddy's quest for greatness with the ditto of a contemporary who set out to become the greatest in the world? And who would that be? Tadese is now a national hero in Eritrea and there aren't enough books about half marathon running. Eddy Lee is a (probably more temporary) hero on Letsrun with an 86% age-grade performance in one of the most populous events in sports - and yet he's a hero.

I dunno, but I think there's a good and inspirational story here. You don't have to be uniquely gifted to achieve greatness, you "just" have to be committed to your goals and dreams.

That kind of improvement can only be explained by PED's. I'm not buying it he's as dirty as the Moroccan’s.

This is truly inspiring. You were written off. Nobody thought you would make it, except you of course.

When I saw you come so close last weekend, I felt excited. Today, I went to Mt. SAC to run my leg of a 4x1600. It was a terrible race for me, and the rest of my team. But I came home and checked how your race had gone, and I felt so happy for you.

I'm not as worried about that one bad leg of the 4x1600 anymore. After all, I have many years ahead of me and many goals to chase.

Thanks for showing me that. And thanks for bringing together this community--normally negative and caustic--into the supportive running community it always should have been.

He's clearly on drugs. I heard he was seen with Jos Hermens in the evening after he ran his 4:00.33.
