1) Never said he didn't have authority to fire Comey. He did so because of the Russia investigation and said so in an interview. Presidents can abuse their power, and that was an abuse of power and the dumbest thing he has done so far...it is the catalyst that will lead to his downfall.

2) The Dossier says that Russia was funding Trump for years...US banks had refused to give him any more money, but Russian banks did, and in Russia, everything goes through the Kremlin. He is in deep to Russia. You don't know if Trump is or was rich...he has clearly had financial problems, having had to file bankruptcy for his businesses y times. US banks will no longer loan money to him because he stiffed them. He clearly has debt. Do his assets outweigh his debt? Hard to know. He won't let us see his tax returns.

3) Again with you Trumpers...I don't care what Bill and Hillary did...neither of them are the President...if they get charged with something or investigated and found guilty of a crime, then GREAT! You bringing them up does not get Trump off the hook.

4) I don't watch Rachel Maddow.

I was intending to post, but really Flagpole articulated Trump's trouble and the foolishness of the Hillary diversion very well. Itsbaddude has become the most ardent trump supporter on this board. I will add one comment to this discussion. itsbadude has no understanding of the gravity of this situation. Another country effectively engineered a propaganda campaign which included a mass distribution of false information, the illegal stealing and publishing of emails with the sole purpose of altering the outcome of our presidential election. A number of members of Trump's inner circle had meetings with Russians that they have repeated lied about and denied. Members of the inner circle have been arrested, some have confessed. And, this investigation is NOT over. This is the furthest thing from a nothing burger that one can imagine.

“It makes the country look very bad, and it puts the country in a very bad position,” Trump said Thursday at his Florida golf club in an impromptu interview with The New York Times. “So the sooner it’s worked out, the better it is for the country.”

Yes Donald its this investigation that makes the country look bad?............seriously, he made that statement?

Then someone brings up Trump and the economy, and Flagpole says ancient news.

Hillary Clinton, who just lost a year ago, gets her indiscretions address, and he says "she's not the President".

So then, with his logic, if she had won, he would have been okay with her and her constant lying, like he was with Obama.

His flawed logic is so easy to figure out that any freshman in high school can see it.

Trump has already done great things and will continue to do so. His girl Hillary wanted the Wall as well in addition to illegal immigration...so does that make her a racist? Not to me it doesn't, but according to nut job it does.

So 20 years ago we had Kenneth Starr investigating Bill Clinton....many Democrats were crying “witch hunt” while many Republicans were determined to “find the truth.” Many Republicans were determined from day 1 to undermine anything Clinton wanted to accomplish and they more or less succeeded and rode a wave of success in the ‘94 mid-terms.

The information on the dossier has not been proven. The FBI has testified in front of congress about this. Again, what has been proven in the dossier. Put up or shut up. The Democrats appoint special prosecutors to every single Republican president. It is ridiculous, and if it does not stop, it will divide the country in a bad way. Obama is the only president not to have an independent counsel appointed to look into his activities. There were many questionable issues in his administration and the republicans were too scared to press for it. I mean, Eric Holder was held in contempt on congress. I really think Trump should start appointing special counsels to look into Democrat activities. I'm afraid that all this nonsense won't stop unless powerful Democrats feel pain. Trump can fire any political appointee for any purpose. He should have fired every single Obama appointee like Clinton did. It would have been better. This was not done due to bad advice. You are playing word games again. Premiums have gone up every year. You may claim that they would have gone up even more if the ACA was not introduced, but that it is just an opinion. Also, you had to pay premiums or a penalty. So some people's premiums, specially young people, suddenly materialized. You are using facts and interpreting them with your bias. I'm not saying your meaning is correct or incorrect, but you should not claim that it is better than other peoples meaning. The ACA is just another power grab by the government, just like Net Neutrality and other issues. You just happen to think the government can solve all issues, like Venezuela, Cuba, Russia, etc. Conservatives do not.

I don't really have time to debunk this now but it doesn't look like a particarly convincing piece of research (and it is only one piece).

Having read the complete abstract that you linked to it sounds like the authors are misinterpreting the data to fit their conclusion ie. that tax is the ONLY significant variable when it comes to working hours. We all know economies are more complicated then that but the authors seem fixated on tax rates.

This paragraph should raise alarm bells:

"While the main focus of the analysis here is on the effects of labor and consumption taxes on hours of work, the authors also consider some additional factors that are often suggested to be potentially important, such as unionization, employment protection, and generosity of unemployment insurance benefits. The authors find that once one incorporates taxes, these additional variables add little in terms of explanatory power."

In other words unionization, employment protection and unemployment insurance benefits have NO effect on working hours. Are we all happy with that conclusion?

You just made up an "opinion" of your own. You have nothing to back it up. Premiums increase BIGLY ever year before the ACA. Then they slowed down.
