I am a fiscally responsible pragmatic democrat. I believe that if you are working a 40 hour week your life should be significantly better than one who doesn't. So if you want to employ people, your responsibility is to pay them a decent living wage. It is the cost of doing business. I also believe it is easy to give away government money and that there are those who will take advantage of government systems designed to help.
I believe everyone and I mean everyone should pay their FAIR share. Our system is heavily weighted with many advantages in favor of those with much money. Our tax system should be heavily skewed with the rich paying a significantly greater percentage of their income to make up for their inherent advantage. That is just them paying their FARE share.
I believe we are responsible to future generations to leave a clean environment and an economy that is not deep in debt. We need make sure that even those who don't care about future generations are required to act responsibly.
I believe we need to monitor and regulate to ensure certain businesses and people don't take unfair advantage of our economic and political systems. Yet we should also encourage innovation and productivity. I believe our country should assume a world leadership role both morally and financially. I believe that our country should respect ALL people.
I believe our system can not remedy nor should it try to remedy every unfairness
that occurs in our country. I believe we need to respect science and higher education!
I am a proud pragmatic DEMOCRAT!

I think I just wrote a winning platform for the next democratic presidential candidate.
