Republicans always say Democrats want stuff for free. This tax plan is a gift of $1.5 trillion of free stuff to rich people.

As Dick Cheney one told Paul O'Neil, "Reagan has proved deficits don't matter."

We may have $20trillion debt, but the interest rates are still incredibly low. That's after the FRB raised the rate for the third time. That means, we are still not in the place where we need to worry about the debt. As long as there are people who are willing to buy the Treasury, the national debt is just a number in the book.

And guess what. The debt will not increase with this tax relief, because the lower rate is offset by a higher economic growth. Just ask Kevin Hassett. He knows more about this stuff than all the detractors on this thread.

Yeah, it would have been WAY too complicated to simply reduce the tax rate from $30k to $150k where the middle class lives. No way to possibly do that without reducing the rate at the top and cutting taxes on corporations and the societal leeches who inherit millions that they did nothing to earn.

Definitely no way to do that. Too complicated.

Interest rates are going up as we speak. It’s not like you can wait until people stop loaning you money and then start doing something about it. Ask Greece how that works out. Why aren’t conservatives fiscally conservative any more?

Whether current government spending is financed by taxes or selling bonds or printing money is mostly irrelevant in the long run. The most important thing is to keep the economy growing and keep the currency stable. We're not in danger of people not loaning us money as long as we do that.

Stop with the cliche specious arguments that you have been taught to parrot back. Our financial system is skewed toward the wealthy in a way to keep increasing the disparity in wealth between the top 1% and the rest of us.

Having a great deal of money makes it much easier to get even moremoney. Our tax system should even out this inherent advantage of being wealthy.

Do you understand that? No one hates the rich or wants to make them poor. Don't be a tool parrot back the nonsense they taught you to say!

I disagree. The more debt you have as a percentage of GDP, the more money goes to paying off the debt and not into things (education, infrastructure, etc...) that help grow the economy in the future. Our debt is currently over 100% of GDP, a level that hasn’t been surpassed since the funding of WWII. The tax cuts of Reagan and GWB didn’t reduce the debt, but actually contributed to our problems.

Listen Buddy if you and your fellow Democrats are doing so well and want the rich (yourselves apparently) to pay more in taxes no one is stopping you. Just write a cheque to the Federal Treasury for whatever amount you want to tax yourself at (60%, 70% Bernie the new leader of your party is on record saying he wants it as high as 90% on the top 1%.). Its pretty simple you don't need the government to tell you how much to pay. If you don't want to accept the tax cut Trump gives you thats not his fault just send the money back to government if you don't want it.

As someone who only makes around $80k a year I happen to think that I can spend my money better than the government can. For example id rather take my kids to Disneyland next year than pay for all the socialism that Bernie and the Democrats want.

You guys are mad that Trump is cutting taxes for everyone including the top 1%. But the thing is Democrats want to raise taxes on everyone. There aren't enough millionaires and Billionaires to pay for all the socialism that the Democrats want. The reality is If you want medicare for all and free college the middle class is going to get their taxes raised significantly.

The question I have for Democrats is if the government is so corrupt why is your solution to give the government more money and power over our lives?

Except when it comes to marriage and abortion and medical marijuana.....then it’s OK for a Republican controlled government to control our lives?

I would be fine with tax cuts for corporations and for the rich in general....if that actually resulted in more jobs. History has shown us that is not the case. Combine that with sub 5% unemployment and less regulated and lower wages elsewhere....the factory jobs and businesses in general are still going to produce stuff elsewhere.

These tax cuts are a backdoor to cutting government programs such as “Obamacare”, Medicare, Social Security, etc down the road. “Oh look at this huge deficit we created!”....we must cut, cut, cut!.....meanwhile millions are going to be without health insurance. So it’s big back to business as usual....uninsured citizens getting care at the ER driving up premiums for everyone else.

You do realize that Bernie wanted to increase taxes for those making millions of dollars per year, not the 80K plebes. It's amazing how you all want to go back to how life was in the 1950s, but taxes were at a 91% rate. The unequal distribution of income and extremely wasteful industrial-military NRA complex is a bottomless pit. Also, properly tax the damn mega-churches and your taxes would be around 5%.
