When Ultra cheating and charity fraud happens in the United States, the frauds are detained, arrested, and charged with fraud.

If the Ultra charity frauds are from foreign countries like Britain, then they are kicked out of the United States by the new administration, which has some new foreign policy rules.

Every so often I wonder whether the RV is still in the car park they dumped it in.

The only complete run that our Dave did without cheating was the one between the two Sportlink shops. This was Joe's first drive with them. Thereafter, our Dave used to do 50 miles at a time, riding in the van, hopping out only to do a piece-to-camera. Mark and Joe were fully in on this, not innocent as I initially said. There were buckets that were opened from the London run, by "he's" wife, namely the lovely Terrie.

The Norwich 10k appears to have been legitimately run by our Dave. The half and marathons are all extremely suspect.

You made a fool of me! I believed you when you said Mark and Joe were innocent! I should have listened to the damn trolls. So how did you realize they were fully in on the scam?

I'd inadvertently missed the riding-in-the-van admission. This came up in conversation yesterday, although, as time moves on, it has become more difficult to consider that they were not in on it, in some way. My bad, as they say.

To be fair none of them are the sharpest tool in the box but that being said if we see in the news that an East Anglian man has been found murdered by being smothered by a Mattrressman mattress then we know who the police need to round up, they will be in a sponsored getaway vehicle doing 5 mph.

So many people on the 'ultrarunning community' FB page at the moment happily sitting on their moral high horses, saying we all need to calm down and pretend nothing has happened...

I understand that not EVERYONE is bothered that our entire sport (and fundraising in general) has been brought into disrepute by a small number of wankers this year who don't play by the rules; but this isn't as simple as someone who's just blagged a couple of pairs of running shoes with bogus claims of a WR attempt. I don't really care about that; or even the cheating in London. I find that quite funny if anything; it's a petty crime and he's cheated his way to a time that isn't even that impressive.

HOWEVER, all this, AND scamming money from numerous sponsors and members of the public where (albeit, allegedly) not all of this money even reaches the charities...... That, is NOT okay! I'm pretty sure that's a crime and I think the ultrarunning community should be more outraged by it all, in all honestly.

Yeah, it looks like the Bournemouth Marathon took his result down since I can't find it any more. Looks like they may have read this thread. All of Dave's marathon and half marathon results were already summed up on page 12 of this thread plus another marathon on a further page I can't remember.

Dave's Bournemouth Marathon 2015 result is still up, which I think is legit:

Agree, but this is often par for the course, many charities only donate 10 to 20% of monies raised, the rest goes to administration, support costs, etc. This is a major problem for the better well run charities because potential donors are just becoming more and more cynical thinking they're all scammers.

Would love Terrie to release verifiable accounts for their 'charity' incomings and outgoings, Dave and his band of merry men certainly got around and looked like they had some pretty hefty expenses.

You made a fool of yourself, but you're forgiven, "damn trolls" are not always just trolls, bit like "haters" are not always just haters.

You got the known culprits right, I wasn't sure about Joe, but seems he was in on it, seems also that the "family emergency" was that he didn't want to carry on after day two because it was too much of an embarrassment and completely shambolic, plus of course they were being watched.

Pretty sure Nicky Gilkes from Mattressman was in on it too, his marketing expertise would have been helpful to the main fixer and publicist/promoter Mark Hewlett, also Nicky was determined to get every bit of exposure he could for Mattressman from the scam. Now, not so much, haha.

All charities ARE scams, including WWTW here. They fund luxury expenditures with donations. Only fools donate to charities.

This is the crying shame :( The genuine charities and hardworking fundraisers out there are the ones who are going to end up suffering the most.

Dave, Terrie, et al (whoever you are) are all scum of the Earth in my view.
