Well a Venezuelan from Dallas with a tattoo of a clock in his arm got put on the plane. The clock shows the time his child was born. He was here legally and paid taxes. From the ridiculous to the absurd

US farmers are lobbying Trump to impose tariffs on our meat and livestock, saying they are behind by $29B in trade deficit with us. In the overall context this is one product out of a net trade deficit that we have with USA where we import twice as much from USA than they do from us.

They are either saying that perhaps we should change our diet to have less Maccas and meat in general, or maybe, just maybe...why don't they eat less, since it seems that even 175,000 cattle farmers isn't enough.

Then in Pharma, Trump is being lobbied by Big Pharma (yes the same 'Big' Pharma that MAGA hate) that our Medicare health system, whereby we happily pay extra tax so everyone can get medicine and treatment, is unfair to them. The argument really is that in order for their very expensive medicines to be on our PBS list (i.e. the patient gets it cheap if prescribed), they need to sell it at a set price to government (not directly, but government/taxes pay the bulk), so they cannot really rip off the patient.

At the same time they are also arguing that it 'takes them too long' to get onto the PBS list... hey what? Do you want to be on the list or not? They are really talking about the high end like dubious efficacy cancer drugs that would have cost thousands, so instead of them getting $10K a tablet/treatment the patient pays say $50 out of a $5K agreed price (figures made up, but that's the gist).

Forgetting too that on the lower end with general medicines that have been around a while I could be using codeine/panadol more frequently ( I do actually) because its cheaper instead of not using it, or someone could go on metformin because its cheap enough instead of something else or change lifestyle.

So in general it is a benefit for their drugs to be on the PBS...but hey, Trump is waving tariffs so why not get more.

So...leave our healthcare system alone and deal with your own unhealthy country that can't access healthcare.

And if we talk about reciprocating , then Trump says he will reciproacte to those who reciprocates. Another clasic Mugabe move

...and if you want to tear up the Free Trade Agreement, tear it up along with the concessions that we (and I suppose others) made in that deal.

Things like extending artistic copyright (eg movies, Disney, songs etc) to 70 yrs. Or maybe your ridiculous 17yr or whatever patent on technologies. Away we go, we (and everyone else) make the pharma stuff right here without royalties.
